They had relatives for whom they had a spiritual concern. In March of 1935, Mr. Mehl rented the Dawson community hall, a small facility four miles northwest of Brodhead. Money was limited, and he slept in the community building on newspapers. The gospel made inroads into the religious community. In July of the same year, Mr. Mehl and Mr. Sheldrake pitched a tent in the middle of Brodhead. The town drunk, Orvel Gadow, heard the gospel and was saved and gathered out."

On Dec. 15, 1935, 22 broke bread at Juda, then purchased a hall in Brodhead, breaking bread there first on Dec. 18, 1937 which was known as Gillett Memorial Gospel Hall, then their location on Center Ave. 1966-2023, and building a new hall to be ready in Aug. '23 which is known as Brodhead Gospel Hall, an open brethren assembly in Green/Rock counties of [[Wisconsin]].

The town of Brodhead has over 3k residents, with mostly consistent growth since its founding, and is double its size from 1870, markedly jumping population 1940-1960 and 1980, with slight dip in 2020, the first decline of its type since 1930.

In a 1941 assembly address book, published by Waltericks, both Brodhead and Juda are there as separate listings, with the same contact of William King, but meeting times only for Juda. By 1943, the Brodhead listing is gone but the Juda listing remains. In 1947, the assembly is listed at Brodhead as Gillett Memorial Gospel Hall.
