[[John Hughes Coxwell]], aka J. Hughes Coxwell, was an early preacher within the Brethren assembly known as the [[Woolpit Christian Fellowship, Suffolk, England|Woolpit Meeting Room]] from ca. 1847-1852. Hughes was born on Dec. 15, 1817 in Gillingham, Kent, [[England]] to Joseph Coxwell (1775-1832) and Anne Godfrey Reeve Coxwell (1786-1850).

On Mar. 15, 1842 Hughes married Emma Maria Grinfield, at Islington, in London. She was born ca. 1816 at Bath, Somerset to Edward William Grinfield (1785-1864) and Mary Ann Fillingham (1791-1843), and she died Apr. 14, 1883 in Steyning at Sussex.  He was employed as a professional ''gentleman''.  Hughes died on Jul. 31, 1906 at Brighton, Sussex.  

They had nine children in fourteen years:

* Charlotte Coxwell Mainwaring (b. 1847 Dalston, London, Eng. - d. 1928 Hove, Sussex, Eng.); 1877 m. Alfred Robert Mainwaring (b. 1845 Germany - d. 1879 Gower, Glamorganshire, Wales); 1 child.
* Phoebe Coxwell Cresswell (b. 1847 Drinkstone, Suffolk, Eng. - d. 1927 Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Eng.); 1867 @ Brighton, Sussex m. Charles Estcourt Cresswell (b. 1832 Sherston Magna, Wilts, Eng. - d. 1893 Christchurch, Hampshire, Eng.); 13 children.

Their 1st child, John, was born 1843 in Islington, London, and their 2nd child, Mary Emma was born in Dalston, London, and the next few children were born in Woolpit. Their 7th child, Susan, was born Oct. 1853 in Tendring, Essex, and subsequent children elsewhere, so it would be presumed the Coxwell family relocated prior to then.
