There have been exclusive brethren meeting in [[District of Columbia|Washington, D.C.]] since prior to 1878, with an unknown start year. This page will focus on those who became what is now known to historians as the Tunbridge-Wells exclusives, after the Grants left in 1884, Ravens in 1890, and the Lowe-Continentals in 1909. The assembly has continued to meet in a variety of locations thru present day.

The 4th page of [https://www.newspapers.com/image/146188140 ''The Evening Star''], local newspaper, carried the following lengthy article on Monday, Feb. 14, 1887 about F.H. Burdick, formally the pastor of the Sixth Presbyterian Church, having left the denomination for the "Plymouth Brethren" shortly before, which includes the format and content of a PB meeting visited. The 1889 ''List of Gatherings'' shows that Burdick, along with R.T.J. Falconer, were the correspondents for the exclusive assembly that year. It is currently unknown whether he left with the Raven or Lowe-Continental divisions subsequently or remained.

[Thomas Spencer] Childs, D.D., is a graduate of the University of New York and of Princeton Theological Seminary. He was for some years pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Hartford, [[Connecticut|Conn.]], and afterwards of the First Congregational Church, Norwalk, Conn. In 1871 he was elected Prof. in the Hartford Theological Seminary. In 1880 he was chosen Prof. in Wooster University, [[Ohio]], which position he has since resigned. The Dr. is a forcible preacher and an interesting writer. He was a member of the Lake Mohonk Convention on the Indian Question, and is much interested in all the various phases of Reform in the administration of Indian affairs. He is the guest of Capt. Pratt."
