The Feb. 1951 issue of Light & Liberty contains a blurb entitled "Christ Magnified In My Body" (Phil. 1:20) that follows: "Sarlo, the converted Italian atheist said to me: "Christ magnified in my body... I cannot understand that. I can understand magnifying a small thing like an ant or a blade of grass, but Christ is big... a big Savior; how can He be magnified?" So we told the dear happy believer that, although the Lord Jesus was great in Himself, He is often small in us, and small in the estimation of the world. If Christ be magnified in my body, I shall think more often of Him and be more completely controlled by desires after Him, and the world around will be compelled to think of Him through my testimony and ways. Thus Christ will be magnified as far as we are concerned, though He could not be magnified in Himself." It has been confirmed by a descendant that this was in reference to Carmine Sarlo, who burned all his atheistic books when saved in 1927.

  • Nicholas Edmund Sarlo +2004 (b. 1929 Sault Ste. Marie, Algoma, ON - d. 2004 Jackson, MI]]), son of Carmine Sarlo (b. 1889 Italy - d. 1964 Sault Ste. Marie, ON) & (2nd wife) Angelina Cedolia Sarlo (b. 1897 Bisignano, Italy; m. 1924 Algoma District, ON; d. 1987 Sault Ste. Marie, ON). Carmine & Angelina were R.C. when married, but Carmine was saved in 1927, and in fellowship with the Gospel Hall in the Soo, as were his wife and all six sons and one daughter at the time of his passing in 1964. Carmine's parents were Guiseppe & Maria Anna Salituri Sarlo. Angelina's parents were Pasquale & Chiara Falcone Cedolia.
  • Barbara Arlene Morrow Sarlo (b. 1929; m. 1952, d. Jan. 1, 2022 Jackson, MI).
