Ethel Louisa Candlish was born in 1889 in Mile End Village, Hochelaga, QC. She died, never married, in 1983 in Montreal, Quebec. She was presumably in fellowship a majority of her life at the Tunbridge Wells exclusive assembly Natural History Hall (now Newman Place Christian Assembly) in Montreal, where her grandfather Frederick Hart served as correspondent (+1889-1894+) when she was a child.

Parents

Her father was Robert William Candlish (1859-1910), born in St-Eustache, Deux-Montagnes, QC and spent his childhood in Ascot, Sherbrooke, QC. His parents were Henry Candlish (b. 1833 Scotland) and Jessie Candlish (b. 1819 QC), and were registered as Presbyterians throughout Robert's childhood (1861-1881)

Her mother was Eva Emily Hart Candlish (b. 1854 Birmingham, England - d. 1946 Montreal, QC), who was born in Birmingham, England, and spent her childhood in Montreal, QC. Her parents were Frederick Hart (b. 1825 England), a printer, and Hannah Hart (b. 1824 England). This family was registered as Baptist in Montreal in 1861, but PB by 1871.

Brethren

Ethel was given honorable mention in a Tunbridge Wells exclusive children's magazine Messages of Love in 1904 for answering Bible questions.
