This list has been compiled from three sources. I have kept a file of publishers through the years. I have acquired two lists of publishers from elderly brothers, one in the United States and one in England. These two, and my own later, contain dates taken from publications to show the periods during which a publisher was in a certain city and at a particular address. This aids in some cases in identifying a period during which an undated book was published. (Many of these undated books are dated in the British Museum Catalogue, because they received copies when they appeared, on the same basis that the U.S. Copyright Office receives copies. These dates supplied by the British Museum appear in brackets.)

The basis on which a publisher is included here is that he has published Brethren works. This does not mean that he has published only such works, as some of the Open Brethren publishers include works by authors not associated with assemblies, but would be assumed to be in doctrinal agreement with them. A few large publishers who have issued a few Brethren titles, such as Oxford, Bagster, Hodder & Stoughton, Nisbet, Tyndale, etc., have not been included.

The two lists were in manuscript and in places difficult to decipher; hence some misspellings may have occurred here and there. Perhaps these can be forgiven.
