* '''George Rainey''': "The meetings at Erlen Chapel, Philadelphia and Maplewood Hall, St. Louis, were blessed of God. The Lord's people were helped and the unsaved heard the old, old story. At Houston, Texas the Lord spoke to His people. Suitable words were given by R. Halliday, William Pell, George Rainey, Kenneth Baird, the Hunt brothers, and others. The meetings at Dallas were encouraging. I will go with Bro. Davis to Waco, and we shall give ministry there and at Dallas until the 20th. Then we shall go to Denver, D.V., and other fields calling for meetings. We shall value prayer." (LaL 1948-12)

'''Stan Hanna''' moved here about a year ago to help the small testimony for awhile. This has been no easy task. Waco Bible Chapel began in the late 1940s in the home of John and Judy Lane on Mockingbird Lane. Within a few years, the Christians were able to buy property and build a chapel at 3300 N. 22nd Street, at which time they took their name. Several visiting preachers assisted in the earliest days of the assembly in the late 1940's and early 1950's.

Leaders have been John Lane, Howard Kohrmann, John Fullerton, Don Welborn, and Glenn Lightfoot. In its earlier years, Waco Bible Chapel commended several to the Lord’s work, including Don Welborn to ministry in the U.S. They also operated a community food bank, "Loaves & Fishes of Waco" at the chapel on Tuesdays and Fridays 10am to 12pm. In the 1990's, the meeting had about 15 adults in fellowship. The assembly closed in 2014.

Commendations

1957+

"The believers in the assembly that meets at Waco Bible Chapel, Waco, Texas, heartily commend to the work of the Lord Mr. and Mrs. George J. Gibb, who have fitted themselves for the mission field to labor with the Leonard Stenhouses at Chile, South America. The believers of South Normandie assembly (formerly Goodyear) in Los Angeles, California, and of Beech Street assembly in Cambridge, Massachusetts, who also know our brother and his wife, join in sending forth this commendation." (LaL 1957-1)

1972-1973

  • Mr. & Mrs. Glen Lightfoot: "The saints of the Waco Bible Chapel, Waco, Texas, wish to announce the commendation of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lightfoot to the work of the Lord in Texas. Both Glen and his wife Elizabeth have served the Lord in Waynesville, North Carolina the past few years." Signed by 'four brethren'. (LOI 1972-4)

1986+

  • Howard Kohrmann, Colonial Hills Bible Chapel (Houston, Texas) and Waco (Texas) Bible Chapel. Howard has been active in various aspects of Christian service for many years. He helped plant the commending assembly in Houston and has also been involved in camp work in Texas and Colorado. Having retired from secular employment, he is now giving his full time to the Lord's work, primarily in Waco. (LOI 1986-5)

1987+

  • "Paul and Sharalyn Nation commended by Waco (Texas) Bible Chapel: Paul and Sharalyn have labored faithfully in the local assembly for five years. In May they became camp managers for Sandy Creek Bible Camp, Washington, Texas." (LOI 1987-7/8)

Visiting Ministry

1940's

1948

  • George Rainey:
    • "The meetings at Erlen Chapel, Philadelphia and Maplewood Hall, St.

1949

  • George Rainey, Mt. Plymouth, Florida:
    • "The Lord gave good meetings at Dallas and Waco, Texas, and Denver, Colorado. The saints were cheered and comforted by the Word. Some sinners professed to be saved." (LaL 1949-1)

1950's

1950

  • Fred Hillis, Monrovia, California:
    • "I have been in Waco, TX for two weeks and this weekend we hope to be at the Houston conference." (LaL 1950-12)

1953

  • F.W. Schwartz, Detroit, Michigan:
    • "Bro. Schwartz recently had meetings in Oklahoma City, Fort Worth and Waco, with encouragement. In Waco, Bro. Kessler and he were together for some nights. A woman who came for the first time after two years of solicitation was saved, and since then four of her family have professed faith. The little assembly is much encouraged." (LOI 1953-12)

1954

  • "Last month in a report on Waco, Texas given by F.W. Schwartz stated that five from one family were saved. Now we can report that seven from that same family are saved and in happy fellowship with the Lord and His people. Two years ago six saints remembered the Lord in His own appointed way, and now about 24 are gathered together unto His name." (LaL 1954-1)

1956

  • Tom R. McCullagh, Guthrie, Okahoma:
    • "Bro. Leonard Lindsted and I are presently holding Gospel meetings (Jan. 17) here in Guthrie, and a nice interest to start with. D.V. expect to begin a series on February 5, in Waco, Texas." (LaL 1956-2)
  • Leonard Lindsted, Wichita, Kansas:
    • "T.R. McCullagh and I have just concluded a series of Gospel meetings in Waco, TX, where the Lord came in and saved several souls. The meetings were held in the new building. The warmth and love of the Christians in Waco for the Lord and the souls of the lost is most refreshing.
    • From Waco, I went down to Palestine, TX, about 100 miles from Waco.  Stan Hanna moved here about a year ago to help the small testimony for awhile. This has been no easy task. While Palestine may be one of the oldest works in Texas, it is today, in another sense, one of the youngest... for it is a rebuilding process and by no means easy. Bro. Hanna has been carrying on an active radio work in connection with the children. This has been fairly encouraging." (LaL 1956-4)

1959

  • Tom R. McCullagh, Guthrie, Oklahoma:
    • "Had fruitful meetings together with A.C. Dellandrea of Port Loring, Ontario, in Waco, TX. The Lord blessed in the salvation of a number of souls and some who are saved saw the truth of gathering in His Name alone. A.C. Dellandrea is now home after brief stops in Oklahoma City and Guthrie." (LaL 1959-1)
  • Milo VandeKrol, Oskaloosa, Iowa:
    • "Had well attended meetings at Springfield, Missouri, and Waco, Texas, during September. Used my Scene-O-Felt lessons to attract the young people. Some exercise among the unsaved." (LaL 1959-11)

1960's

1960

  • Waco, Texas:
    • "Brother John Walden writes of having childrens' meetings each morning and gospel meetings in the evening. (AA 1960-9)
  • Wichita, Kansas:
    • "Leonard Lindsted and T.R. McCullagh purpose several weeks gospel meetings starting September 18. Pray for blessing. Bro. Lindsted also plans to minister to the saints at Waco, Texas in October." (LaL 1960-10)
  • Leonard Lindsted, Wichita, Kansas:
    • "Our brother had appreciated meetings in Waco, TX on the Seven Churches. Two professed to be saved. After attending the Elm Springs, Kansas conference, he plans meetings at Burlington, Colorado." (LaL 1960-11)

1961

  • F.W. Schwartz, Detroit, Michigan:
    • For the past twelve weeks ministered the Word in Shelbyville, Tennessee; Atlanta, Georgia; Birmingham, Alabama; Houston, Waco, Fort Worth, Texas; Okahoma City, Tulsa, Guthrie, Oklahoma; and Springfield, Missouri. The Lord was pleased to give blessing upon His Word both to saint and sinner. Presently giving help locally in the home area." (LaL 1961-6)
  • Ernest B. Sprunt, St. Catherines, Ontario: Some Confess Christ In Waco, TX Meetings:
    • "During August I conducted gospel meetings in Waco, Texas with good attendance and interest. Some have been led to confess Christ as Saviour. During the first week I also had meetings each morning for children, with an average attendance of 185. The latter part of September I am scheduled for children's meetings in Danforth Hall, Toronto. God willing, George Heidman and I begin gospel meetings in the Rexdale assembly in Toronto in mid-October. (LOI 1961-10)

1962

  • M.B. MacJannet, Houston, Texas:
    • "Gave appreciated help to saints in Waco, Texas; Portales, New Mexico; Winslow, Flagstaff, and Kingman, Arizona. It is encouraging to find the work prospering and a desire for His Word." (LaL 1962-6)
  • "The saints at Waco, Texas enjoyed good meetings with the children with brother Milo VandeKrol ministering the Word. Some of them as well as a young couple professed faith in Christ. They were looking forward to meetings with brother Kesler and later in the winter with brethren Hartsema, Hope and Lindsted. (LaL 1962-10)

1963

  • David Lawrence, Centerville, Iowa:
    • "Shared the ministry at the Oklahoma City conference. Am now (May 20) at Waco, Texas, having a few meetings. An active group of Christians here." (LaL 1963-6)

1964

  • Tom R. McCullagh, Guthrie, Oklahoma:
    • "Had four nights meetings in Longview, one night at Golden, and two weeks at Waco, TX in February. Had the joy of seeing a number receive Christ as Savior. Came home to get some needed work done as I thought, but instead was flat on my back a week. However, the Lord raised me up and I went to Dallas, March 21 for two weeks meetings and the conference. Very good conference." (LaL May 1964)

1965

  • Abe Hartsema, Muskegon, Michigan:
    • "We spent the month of February in Wisconsin with nightly meetings in Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, Casco, Green Bay, and Appleton. Even though the weather was extremely cold with plenty of snow and ice, it was most encouraging to see the saints come night after night. Some brought unsaved friends with them to hear the Gospel. We will be leaving soon for Gallion, Alabama, and Waco, Texas. Then to Dallas for Easter. Appreciate prayer." (LaL 1965-3)
  • Abe Hartsema, Muskegon, Michigan:
    • "On this trip we have had a series of meetings in Gallion, Alabama, also in Waco and Dallas, Texas. Helped with the conferences at Oklahoma City and Wichita. Presently (May 6) am in the midst of meetings at Guthrie, OK, where T.R. McCullagh is doing an excellent work. Before returning home will give help at Melrose chapel in Houston." (LaL 1965-6)

1966

  • Abe Hartsema, Muskegon, Michigan:
    • "Hope D.V. to spend part of July along the Gaspe Coast in Quebec; a part of August in Waco, Texas, and all of September in the local area of Muskegon." (LaL 1966-8)
  • Abe Hartsema, Muskegon, Michigan:
    • "August, two-week series of meetings in Waco, Texas; September, with Muskegon assembly. (LOI 1966-8)
  • Abe Hartsema, Muskegon, Michigan:
    • "We are in the midst of Youth Meetings here in Waco, TX. The Chapel is filled to capacity each night in spite of a heat wave. One young man professed last night. We are hoping and praying more young people will see the value of trusting Christ while they are young. From here we are going to have a few meetings at Golden." (LaL 1966-9)
  • Young People Saved In Waco, Tex.:
    • "In spite of a heat wave the Gospel Chapel in Waco, TX was filled to capacity each night of a two-week series of youth meetings with Abe Hartsema of Muskegon, MI, and young folk were being saved. From Waco Mr. Hartsema was going for a few meetings to Golden where Morton Barber is helping a new assembly in a recently opened chapel. A week of meetings was planned for Marble Hill, Missouri where the Berndt Carleys of Whitehall, MI have been giving valuable help." (LOI 1966-10)
  • Tom R. McCullagh, Guthrie, Oklahoma:
    • "After ministering at Omaha conference, am having meetings at Waco, TX, using the "Two Roads" chart. Look for blessing." (LaL 1966-12)

1970's

1973

  • Kenneth K. Baird, Boulder, Colorado:
    • "There seems to be a hunger for the Word here at Glenview Chapel, Fort Worth. We have responsibilities yet at the Spanish Mission, at Polk St. Chapel, Dallas, at Golden, Longview, and Waco, Texas, before returning to Boulder about March 1st." sent Jan. 18 (LOI 1973-3)
  • Abe H. Hartsema, Muskegon, Michigan:
    • "On the way to California we stopped to have a few meetings in Springfield, Illinois; Dallas, Waco, El Paso, Kingman, Pomona, Valinda (West Covina) and Riverside. We had intended to visit a number of assemblies on the west coast but my wife was stricken with a heart attack and has been in intensive care in a West Covina hospital. All meetings have been cancelled and I'm remaining close to her bedside. She is now improving for which we are most grateful. The Lord and the Lord's people have been most faithful." March 14th; (LOI 1973-5)

1980's

1982

  • Joseph Balsan, Urbandale, Iowa:
    • "I have just returned from sharing in a conference in Oklahoma City with Rob Lindsted, and then some refreshing times with the saints in Manvel and Waco, Texas. Earlier I had two weeks of meetings with a new assembly in Pelkie, Michigan. They meet in homes but got the town hall for the series on 'Egypt to Canaan'. The Lord gave definite fruit. In November I hope to be in Guthrie, Oklahoma for a series. I value prayer for God's blessing and enabling." Nov. 3; (LOI 1982-1)
