Cottrill family

• John Cottrill (b. 1811 Birmingham, Warwick, Eng. - d. 1884 Halton, ON). He was christened at St. Martin in Birmingham in 1813. He and Mary emigrated to Canada in 1838 on the "Ontario", and by 1861 resided in Milton, Halton, ON where they resided in a log cabin.
• Mary Taylor Horton-Cottrill (b. 1812 Eng.; m. 1832 St. James, Sussex Gardens, Paddington, London, Eng.; d. 1883 Halton, ON).
  • Benjamin Taylor Cottrill +1901-1924 (b. 1849 Halton, (now GTA), ON - d. 1924 Huntsville, ON). Wife: Sarah "Maria" Cook Cottrill +1901-1943 (b. 1858 Medonte, Simcoe, ON - d. 1943 Parry Sound, ON), daughter of John Cook (b. 1811 Eng.) & Sarah Beard Cook (b. 1826 Eng.). Maria was raised CoE, her father John Cook was employed in 1861 as a yeoman, died prior to 1861. Benjamin was employed in 1881 as a lumberman.

Wife (1914 @ Toronto, ON): Caroline Grace McBain Cottrill +1914-1931+ (b. 1882 Aberdeen, Scot.), daughter of Alexander McBain (b. 1845 Daviot, Aberdeen, Scot. - d. 1882 Aberdeen, Scot.) & Jane Isaac McBain +1921+ (b. 1849 Insch, Aberdeen, Scot.; emig. 1908; d. 1936 Muskoka Falls, ON). Alexander McBain was employed in 1881 as a millwright. John Cottrill was employed in 1931 as a lumberman.
      • Francis "Frank" Alexander Cottrill 1915-1931+ (b. 1915 Huntsville, ON - d. 2006 Woodstock, ON). Wife (1940): Lillian Clara Kathleen Radcliffe Cottrill +1940+ (b. 1919 Orillia, ON - d. 1987 Huntsville, ON), daughter of David McCauley Radcliffe & Clara Kate Starmeare Radcliffe. Their wedding was officiated by Samuel William Benner (b. 1855 Binbrook, Wentworth, ON - d. 1940 Orillia, ON), of the Dominion Gospel Hall in Orillia.
      • Dorothy Grace Cottrill Smith 1917-1931+ (b. 1917 Huntsville, ON - d. 2011 New Liskeard, Timiskaming, ON). Husband : James Mordecai Smith (b. 1903 Algoma, ON - d. 1986 Charlton, ON), son of Joseph T. Smith (1871-1957) & Eva May Widdifield Smith (1880-1939).

Wife (1931 @ Huntsville, ON): Esther Helen Huggins Cottrill 1931-1990 (b. 1903 Macaulay, ON - d. 1990 Huntsville, ON), daughter of Henry Alfred Huggins (b. 1872 Woodstock, ON - d. 1944 Toronto, ON) & Helen "Ellen" Cooper Huggins (b. 1872 Stoneleigh, Muskoka, ON).       • Vernon Cottrill 1934-present. Saved in 1954 at HGH under the gospel ministry of David Adams.
