Had been in failing health for past two years; passed home without pain or struggle as gently as an infant falling asleep. Saved at the age of 17 in Ardrossan; 63 years associated with assemblies. During the lifetime of her husband, the late Mr. Peter Hynd of Troon, known far and near for her hospitality, her deep interest in the Lord's work both at home and abroad. She will be affectionately remembered by many, as a true "mother in Israel". Funeral service which was largely attended, held in Swanwick Gospel Hall, and conducted by [[Roy John Littleproud|J.R. | + | |||
| + | AA 1950-10: Toronto, Canada. "Mr. Peter Hynd was born in Ayeshire, Scotland over 76 years ago and was saved there at the early age of ten. In those days the assembly met in his father's home, moving later to a small hall, after which the growing assembly under the able ministry and shepherd care of his father, the late Peter Hynd of Troon, secured the large and commodious Bethany Hall in use till this day. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Mr. Hynd came to Canada in 1913 and spent a number of years with the Swanwick brethren. Together with brother J.R. Littleproud, a brother of kindred mind and exercise, service for the Lord was engaged in. These two brethren conducted Saturday evening classes for young men for several winters in Toronto. Many were helped in the ways of the Lord and several of the young men who attended these classes are now serving the Lord in the homeland and abroad. | ||
| + | |||
| + | In recent years, Mr. Hynd was in fellowship at Central Hall in Toronto, where his practical ministry to the saints and gospel messages have borne much fruit there. Mr. Hynd's ability in the Scriptures and in visitation became more widely known and for the last few years he was in demand for meetings in many assemblies in Ontario, [[Quebec]], and the States. He ministered acceptably at various conferences and was held in the highest esteem by all. Brother Andrew Reyburn, who together with Mr. J. Irwin took the funeral services in Central Hall in Toronto on September 30 who sent us this report adds, "Mr. Hynd was known to me since childhood. As a personal friend and counsellor I feel his loss greatly as I learned to love him and confide in him on most matters, relying on his sound judgment." | ||
| + | |||
| + | Our brother Hynd's home call was a very sudden one. Coming home from a missionary meeting he was quite happy, and talked much about enjoying the ministry of Mr. Lear. Shortly after retiring he took a coughing spell and passed away in the hospital to which he had been taken at 4:15 in the morning (Sept. 28). Mr. Hynd is survived by his widow who writes, "I have been wonderfully sustained in this great sorrow." and one sister, Mrs. John Ritchie Jr., of Kilmarnock, [[Scotland]]." | ||

Saved 64 years ago and associated with the assemblies for 63 years. The funeral service in Swanwick Gospel Hall was conducted by R.J. Littleproud." Had been in failing health for past two years; passed home without pain or struggle as gently as an infant falling asleep. Funeral service which was largely attended, held in Swanwick Gospel Hall, and conducted by J.R. Littleproud. The pallbearers were chiefly brethren from the "old country" who had known Mrs. Hynd for many years."
AA 1950-10: Toronto, Canada.
Mr.
In recent years, Mr. Hynd was in fellowship at Central Hall in Toronto, where his practical ministry to the saints and gospel messages have borne much fruit there. Mr. Hynd's ability in the Scriptures and in visitation became more widely known and for the last few years he was in demand for meetings in many assemblies in Ontario, Quebec, and the States. As a personal friend and counsellor I feel his loss greatly as I learned to love him and confide in him on most matters, relying on his sound judgment."
Our brother Hynd's home call was a very sudden one. John Ritchie Jr., of Kilmarnock, Scotland."
