Belden family

Edwin was a great-grandson of Stephen William Johnson (b. 1749 Norwalk, CT - d. 1834 Albany, NY) and Stephen Putnam (b. 1728 Sutton, Worcester, MA - d. 1803 Northampton, Hampshire, MA), veterans of the Revolutionary War, according to [Vol. 16 https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/1901663:61157] of the Lineage Book of the Charter Members of the DAR.

According to that record, Johnson was "one of the 'Mohawk Indians' who threw the tea overboard in Boston Harbor. He enlisted, 1776, in Capt. Samuel Keeler's company and was taken prisoner at Fort Washington." Putnam was "a private in the expedition to Canada in Capt. Elisha Whitcomb's company, Col. Timothy Bedell's New Hampshire regiment".

Stephen was also a brother of Gen. Rufus Putnam (b. 1738 Sutton, MA - d. 1824 Marietta, OH). According to Wikipedia, Rufus fought during the French & Indian War and the Revolutionary War, and known as the "Father of the Northwest Territory" for his colonizing of "former Native American, English and French lands in the Northwest Territory in present-day Ohio following the war." A cousin was another general in the Rev. War, Israel "Old Put" Putnam, as was Ann Putnam (1679-1716) who was one expressed public remorse & confession in 1706 for errors in judgment.

Annie's grandfather was Dr. William Peagum Coleman who was a farmer who emigrated to the Australian colonies with his wife and son in 1831 on the Lotus from London, and settled in Maitland to become a surgeon and pharmacist. He established a hospital in Maitland in 1832. He also tended a farm on the Paterson River, earning enough money to return to London between 1846-1848. Annie's father was thrown from a dog-cart in 1857 at his residence at Eastbrook House, Teignmouth. Annie's brother, with the same name as her father, was born in 1850 in Sydney, Australia and served in the York and Lancashire regiments, including as a captain with the 65th foot patrol in 1870, then settled by 1882 in Stockport. Stuart Domer Biden +1883-1891 (b. 1844 Gosport, Alverstoke, Hampshire, Eng. - d. 1905 Medford, Jackson, OR). In 1871, Stuart and his family still resided in Gosport, and he was employed as a brewer. He emigrated to Chicago in 1880, and by 1885, he was in the footwear (boots & shoes) industry, that year his shop was at 845 W. Madison, Chicago. In 1891, he settled in Medford. He died while among the PB, staying with the TW-Lowe's in the divisions, his memorial was conducted by Bro. Heney. In his obit, he was regarded a "respected citizen" of the Medford community, and described as "an upright, honest man, a kind husband and father, and his death is deeply regretted by all who knew him". He was a correspondent for a meeting in Medford in 1896-1905 (part of the time in Asbestos), his family shared in that role 1905-1911, along with his son-in-law A.C. Tayler. Stuart had seven children by his first wife, and four by his second, for a total of eleven... five survived past 1905.

Annie's parents were Anglican in 1847, were in Mancroft, Norwich, Norfolk by 1851, and Newton Abbot, Devon by 1861.
- Harriett Ada "Leila" Biden Tayler +1883-1891 (b. 1866 Alverstoke, Gosport, Eng. - d. 1897 Medford, Jackson, OR). Leila was later a correspondent for the assembly in Medford. Husband (1887 @ West Chicago, Cook, IL): Albert Clifton Tayler (b. 1861 Monmouth, Eng.; emig. 1879; d. 1920 Medford, OR), son of Will Tayler & Elizabeth Shrove Tayler. Sometimes A.C.'s surname was spelled "Taylor". Albert's 2nd wife: Erma Wangerin Tayler-Wood (b. 1879 Oakland, Alameda, CA), daughter of Joseph David Wangerin (b. 1850 Freistadt, Ozaukee, WI - d. 1939 Oakland, CA) & Margaret Kool Wangerin (b. 1842 Germany - d. 1928 Oakland, CA). In 1900, A.C. was employed as a shoemaker dealer, and in 1910 he maintained an orchard. A.C. & Erma had two children together: Margaret Elizabeth Tayler Goold (1901-1969 Medford, OR) & Ruth Iris Tayler Leonard (1903-1987 Medford, OR).

Evans family

The Evans family was initially in the Delavan Meeting Room, IL, during which, as per one of his descendants, Richard enlisted in the Army Air Corps early into WWII, but collapsed on the drill field which prevented his entry into the war, and he was presumably given a medical discharge, and they moved to the Austin district of Chicago where he applied for a position with the post office. In 1950, the family operated a rooming house, with a boarder of Jack Arnold Tully (b. 1926 Casper, WY) who had discharged from the Army. In 1971, Richard relocated to the suburb of River Forest.

The Kleen family emigrated to the U.S. from Germany in 1882, Tobe Hinrichs Kleen and his wife Annie, parents of William, were married in 1888 in Tazewell Co., IL by G.W. Goebel of St. Paul's Evangelical of Bloomington. In 1950, Richard was employed as a wholesale jewelry salesman.
Miriam Darlene Sonnemaker Evans 1943-1964 (b. 1922 Timber, Peoria, IL - d. 1964 Tremont, Tazewell, IL), daughter of Allen George Sonnemaker (b. 1894 Glasford, Peoria, IL - d. 1973 Green Valley, IL) & Vilma Ruth Arnold Sonnemaker (b. 1902 Glasford, IL - d. 1974 Peoria, IL). Richard & Miriam's wedding in 1941 was officiated by Wolbert Denekas (1875-1950) of the Pekin Second Reformed Church, pastor 1919-1945. Potter 1868-1937 (b. 1847 Coggeshall, Essex, Eng.; emig. 1866; d. 1937 Chicago, IL), son of Alfred Potter (b. 1821 Great Coggeshall, Eng. - d. 1895 Chelmsford, Eng.) & Julia Higham Potter (b. 1827 Great Totham, Eng.; m. 1845 Witham, Essex, Eng.; d. 1886 Chelmsford, Eng.). Alfred was employed in 1850 as a laborer for a dealer of wool, the family resided in Ingatestone, Chelmsford. Walter was employed in 1880 for a custom boot & shoe shop, and residing at 241 W. Erie St. Itinerant evangelist. He may have been part of a brief division, but returned. Walter had a sister named Mrs. Julia Bamrood, 11 St. Johns Rd., Chelmsford, Eng. 1911 @ 1210 W. Erie St.
Marie Kloster Potter +1870-1932? (b. 1845 Stavenger, Rogaland, Norway; emig. 1861; m. 1870; d. 1932 Chi., IL), daughter of Endre Olsen Kloster (b. 1821 Skudenes, Rogaland, Norway; emig. 1863; d. 1913 Chi., IL) & Anna Benthine Samuelsdatter Kloster (b. 1825 Norway; m. 1844 Stavenger, Norway; d. 1901 Chi., IL). In 1900, Endre owned a bakery. Marie's mother died at Walter & Marie's home. Endre was a member of Our Savior Lutheran (ELCA) of Chicago, he resided just up the street from Walter & Marie at 1210 W. Erie, and previously next door neighbors.

In its early years, the company also served the railway industry.
