There have been open brethren assemblies in the Providence/Warwick area of Rhode Island since before 1904. Buttonwoods Bible Chapel is the eldest active. 1926 USCoRB indicated that there were 51 in fellowship (23 men, 28 women) including 6 S.S. teachers, presiding over 5 children (for a total of 56 in 1926). The Hall was a rented facility (with $500 in expenses). In 1927, there was also the Ives Street Gospel Hall, also in Providence. In 1978, BBC started Buttonwoods School, a Christ-centered preschool & kindergarten. Warwick Believers Fellowship hived off from BBC in the early 1980's.
