In 1880, John A.T. Krause was listed as a watchmaker/jeweler at 403 Christy Ave., St. Louis. The family was living in Switzerland as late as 1844, and had emigrated to St. Louis by 1850.

      • John Gabriel Mange may have been a PB evangelist, his death record identifies his occupation as "Minister of Gospel". The Mange family emigrated to the U.S., headed for Pennsylvania on 10-27-1850. In 1872, John Mange was living in Highland, Illinois and studying for one year at Shurtleff College (1827-1957) in Alton, which was founded as Rock Springs Seminary by John Mason Peck, the "oldest Baptist college west of the Allegheny mountains" according to lostcolleges.com, its building is also one of the oldest college buildings in Illinois still in use, it presently houses the Alton Museum of History and Art.
        • It may also be noted, according to a yearbook from the era courtesy Ancestry.com that in 1872 when Mange was a student there, Daniel Durand Ryrie (b. 1825 Wick, Highland, [[Scotland|Scot. - d. 1877 Alton, IL) was an officer on the Board of Trustees (served 1851-1877), his brother John Alexander Ryrie (1827-1902), grandfather of Charles Caldwell Ryrie (1925-2016), served as a correspondent for the Alton Meeting Room (the earliest known exclusive assembly in the U.S.) in the late 1870's.
