William's father, Alexander, was a member of the Woodbridge UMC, and a retired foreman with the Shell Chemical Co., Sewaren.

Christensen family

Christian @ Danish/Norwegian Tract Depot aka Gospel Book Room, Woodbridge +1903-1905+, @ Perth Amboy +1914+; He immigrated in 1888 from Denmark as Ev. Luth. In 1896, Chr. resided at 121 Gordon St., Perth Amboy.

In 1895, brothers Chris and Peter Christensen opened Christensen's Department Store on Main St., in Woodbridge. It branched into Utah in 1929, where it continues today as Christensen's Clothing in St. George, Cedar City and Richfield. The Woodbridge store moved to a new location in 1933. Chris' sons Gilford and Herbert inherited the business after their father's death in 1942. Herbert retired in 1998 after the 103rd year celebration, and sold the Woodbridge location.

Husband: Richard "Dick" Knapp Gorgas (b. 1933 Philadelphia, PA - d. 2004 Chatham, NJ), son of John Weaver Gorgas (b. 1903 Newark, NJ - d. 1994 Chatham, NJ) & Margaret May Knapp Gorgas (b. 1909 Honduras - d. 1983 Morganville, Monmouth, NJ). John Gorgas resided in Kenilworth, Philadelphia and Morganville, before moving to Chatham in 1985. He studied at Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia, and was employed 45 years for Bell Telephone Systems, as a systems engineer specializing in military telecommunications switching at Bell Labs, and credited with several inventions.
    • Herbert Lambert Christensen 1909-2001 (1909-2001 Woodbridge, NJ). Herbert co-owned Christensen's Department Store with his brother Gilford for 60 years. Wife: Violet L. Drummond Christensen +1982-1992 (b. 1910 NJ - d. 1992). As per his obit, Herbert "volunteered his services to the Woodbridge Emergency Squad during World War II when its other members were called to the service. He participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the dedication of the new Woodbridge Municipal Town Hall and was always asked for his facts and memories when any research on Woodbridge was published. He organized many of his Woodbridge High School Class of 1927 reunions, and participated with the Christians Gathered to the Name of the Lord at 97 Main St., Woodbridge."
