First Baptist Church in Fremont, Michigan is where Dr. Steve Witter's wife Wendy was raised, and where they have served in leadership. This type of church has multiple pastors, as well as a team of elders and deacons that serve in leadership. It also has an Awana, MOPS, and various community events.

Wendy served for many years as an elder's wife at Anchor Community Church, IA, which was formerly known as Asbury Community Chapel, one of three assemblies in the Dubuque area where Emmaus faculty and staff have served. Wendy also served many years in food services at Emmaus Bible College.

Her husband, Dr. Steve Witter, served on faculty at Emmaus, teaching courses including "Administration and Leadership" and others, and primarily served as the Dean of Students for many years. Throughout his tenure there, he served as an elder at the assembly in Asbury, that currently (2019) meets at Emmaus. Steve was raised in a small assembly in Pennsylvania.

Their children both met their spouses at Emmaus, and their son-in-law, David Crabb, served alongside his father, Tim Crabb, in the grounds/maintenance department a number of years at Emmaus, while active in children's ministries at Asbury Community Chapel. Tim was a leader at an area Awana for many years, as well.

After his tenure at Emmaus, Dr. Witter served as principal of a Christian school for a number of years, before accepting a pastorate at this church in Fremont around 2013, where he continues to serve to this day (2019) as a beloved Bible teacher. His son-in-law, David Crabb, serves as a deacon.
