    • Dec 1948 LOI: "Mrs. Florence McKay, who with her late husband labored in the West Indies for many years, is now a resident of the Home at Longport. She sends us a few interesting details of the Home, as follows: 'This home would need to be seen to be appreciated. There are 39 guests and most of them are 80 years old, or near that age. There are continual improvements being made the for the comfort of the guests. We now have a lovely sun porch, an oil burner for supplying hot water for domestic use, and an elevator is being installed. The elevator was a necessity as the building is four stories high. Mr. Moon, when his day's work at the office was finished, was down in the shaft helping to dig in preparation for the elevator. This together with the efforts of a brother in the Home, aged 79, who with the help of others did most of the work, reduced the expense to a minimum.     • "Jeremiah E. Russell of Philadelphia, Pa., passed away on March 22, age 68. A very faithful brother and regular attendant at Overbrook Gospel Hall for the past 19 years. He leaves to mourn his passing a widow and one unsaved son. Mrs. Russell is now residing at the Gospel Hall Home for Aged Christians at Longport, N.J."

    • "Mrs. Jane Palmer MacLeod, of Kearny, N.J., passed away to be with the Lord on Feb. 17, from the Gospel Hall Home for Aged Christians, in Longport, N.J. Born in England, she had been associated with assemblies in Newark and Kearny for over fifty years, and through all that time was scarcely ever absent from the Lord's Table on Sunday mornings. At the funeral service, messages for saved and unsaved were given by brethren Paul Mitchell of Good News Chapel Kearney, and William Moon of Atlantic City."

    • Aug. L&L: "Mrs. Rita Jones (widow of Harold Jones) has moved from Albany, N.Y. to Gospel Hall Home for Aged Christians, Longport, N.J."

1959

  • Iva Kelley (d. 1959)
    • Mrs. Iva Kelley went home to be with the Lord from Spring Lake, Michigan, on Mar. 28. She lived for many years in Valparaiso, Indiana, and was known to the Lord's people in Chicago, Longport, New Jersey, Cleveland, Ohio and elsewhere. Peter and William J. Pell had the privilege of sharing the funeral services in Grand Haven.
  • Christine D. Thomson ?-1959 (d. 1959)
    • Christine D. Thomson, of Pittsburgh, PA, who was fifty years in fellowship in the Friendship Avenue assembly, departed this life to be "with Christ" which is "far better." A quiet, devoted sister whose life and testimony will have its proper appraisal from God. She is missed by her many friends here, and also at Longport Home where she spent the closing days of her earthly life."

    • WIS: Niagara Falls, ON: "On Mar. 10th our brother George Hatherly was called home rather suddenly, aged 84. He came from England in 1922 and for a number of years preached the Gospel mostly in the New England states. He passed away from the home of his niece here. He was in the Home in Longport and cared for there for some time, leaving of his own will. He leaves a niece and nephew. Small assemblies appreciated his help in former years."
  • Annie J. Graham 1957-1960 (1867-1960)
    • T&T: Annie J. Graham, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, went home to be with the Lord on June 16. She was born in Ireland 93 years ago. Saved at the age of 18, she came to America shortly thereafter. She was associated with the saints at Friendship Ave. Assembly until about three years ago when she went to reside at the Longport Gospel Hall Home for the aged, where she remained until her home call. She was a widow indeed for over 50 years, and freely entertained the Lord's people as long as she was able. She was well loved by all. The service was conducted by Robert Crawford, her nephew."
    • WIS: Longport, N.J.: "Our aged sister Mrs. Annie Graham, formerly of Friendship Assembly in Pittsburgh, "went home" June 16th, in her 94th year.

    • WIS: "We also record the passing of our sister Mrs. Sara Boyd of the 73rd St. Assembly on June 25th. One by one these dear ones are being called home."

    • WIS: "Elizabeth Wallace "went home" July 11, aged 89.
  • Charles Dautle ?-1960 (1885-1960)
    • WIS: Longport, N.J.: "Our beloved brother Charles Dautle "went home" to be with the Lord Nov. 14th. He was 76 years of age, saved in the year 1903. He died in Bryn Mawr but had been in the "Home" here for some time. He was a hard worker and always on hand in the assembly when things needed to be taken care of. He was an "orphan" and had many a hard day and year the first of his life. While having meetings here this past Summer, on leaving, he pressed a dollar or two into our hand with the remark, 'this is an orphan's mite.' We have known our brother for many years, now where the inhabitants never shall say 'I am sick.' In fellowship in Bryn Mawr assembly throughout the years."

    • WIS: Longport, N.J.: "Our dear brother Mr. Lawrence "went home" Nov. 30th, aged 83. He spent a good part of his time praying, and gave out tracts to those in the neighborhood as he walked out each day. A godly brother, much missed."

    • Nov. WIS: Longport, N.J.: "Our beloved and esteemed aged brother Andrew Cousley "went home" Thursday Oct. 5th from the Home here where he spent the past seven years. He was aged 90, saved 72 years. We will have further word next month D.V. This report came as we went to press with this issue. We were in Ontario when he "went home"."

  • Doris L. White, Longport, N.J. has not been able to return to Venezuela because of a disk injury which may require surgery. For the present she is at the Longport Gospel Home and helping to care for the aged saints."

  • June WIS: Longport, N.J.: "Three of the saints here "went home" recently: Mr. Uhrman, Mr. Lutters and Mrs. Finnie, quite feeble for a long time. Nice to know that in the 'twilight of life' they are cared for here amidst Christian fellowship."

    • Aug. WIS: "Our aged brother John Fannin, well known in the Pittsburgh district formerly, past twenty years or so here, went to be with the Lord June 20th. We have known our brother for so many years and he will be missed in the Longport Assembly. We trust the Lord shall raise up others to have a godly care. He took a stand in early days in Pittsburgh against the intrusion of "looseness" as to Assembly testimony, a great need amongst us today. His widow survives him here."

    • Sept. WIS: "Our dear aged brother Caesar Patrizio is in the infirmary here at the Home for the Aged where he will receive good care."
  • Sarah Bristow +1972 (d. 1972)
    • Sept. WIS: Longport, N.J.: "Our beloved sister Miss Sarah Bristow, of Pittsburgh and in fellowship in the Gospel Hall there on Friendship Ave., for many years, "went home" from the infirmary here May 26th. A woman of sterling character, real exercise in the things of God and a lover of the truths we learned in earlier days, she maintained her interest in the Lord's work to the end. The members of her family have "this Blessed Hope" before them, as we all do."
  • Margaret Kilpatrick ?-1972 (1872-1972)
    • Nov. WIS: Longport, N.J.: "Our beloved sister Miss Margaret Kilpatrick went to be with the Lord, having passed her 100th birthday, Sept. 3rd. It was a happy release for her. She was a woman who knew her Lord and enjoyed much fellowship with Him. Unable to see or hear of late, she passed the declining years peacefully here. We knew her for many years. She was intelligent in the Scriptures, a lover of those who put God first and she had good discernment. Now with Himself."

1982

  • John E. Bottke 1979-1982 (1892-1982)
    • John died "on June 15, age 90. Mr. Bottke was saved while on his lunch break at work. In future years, due to his reading of the Word of God during his break and his bright testimony to his fellow workers he became known as the "lunchtime preacher". He was in fellowship for over 60 years, first in the Mascher St. assembly and then for over 52 years in Hatboro, PA. His wife pre-deceased him by four years and Mr. Bottke spent the last three years of his life in Longport. He was a faithful, godly and consistent elder. The funeral service was shared by H. Coleman, E. Richards and Eugene Higgins."
  • Miss Mabel I. Johnston 1982 (1911-1982)
    • Mabel died "on Nov. 24, age 71. Our dear sister was born in Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland, and saved at age 13 in meetings outside Belfast by William McCracken and John Hutchinson. She has been associated with the Bryn Mawr assembly since 1930. For the past year she has been at the home in Longport. Her brother Willie was an evangelist in N. Ireland. Locally she leaves a brother, sister, nephew, wife an three children. Please pray for the nephew, wife and family whom she longed to see reached and saved."
    • "William Oliver found the following poems in the personal effects of Mabel I. Johnston who passed away at the Longport Home on Nov. 24, 1982 after much physical suffering. She left a fragrant memory of love to Christ.

1983

  • Mrs. Margaret Pruitt 1960-1983 (1897-1983)
    • Margaret died "on January 6, age 86.  Our beloved sister (sister of the late William Moon, founder of the Longport Home), was saved at age 15, after a stirring message by Sam McEwen from Isaiah 14:9, on April 18, 1911 at Camden, NJ.  She and her husband Tom were interested in the Home from its beginning, and after his retirement were able to devote all their time and energies to the work there.  Mrs. Pruitt has left a fragrant memory as a kindly and cheerful saint."
  • Mrs. Margaret Wiseman 1962-1983 (1892-1983)
    • Margaret died "on March 14, age 91.  Our dear sister was born in Ireland and was saved in 1917.  She was in fellowship in Midland Park before coming to the Longport Home 21 years ago.  Mrs. Wiseman was a very quiet and steadfast sister who suffered much toward the end."
  • Mrs. Reba Sprigg +1983 (1890-1983)
    • Reba died "on March 29, age 93.  Our dear sister was born again in 1910 and was in assembly fellowship for 73 years.  She was in the old Atlantic City meeting at its beginning and was a native of this area.  Our sister was a cheerful and happy saint who will be truly missed."
  • Miss Matilda Cochrane +1983 (1905-1983)
    • "Miss Matilda Cochrane of Longport, N.J. on June 17, age 78. Our dear sister was born in Pennsylvania and professed faith in Christ when she was 13 years of age. For many years, she was in fellowship in assemblies in the Philadelphia area before coming to Longport. Miss Cochrane loved the Lord and was looking for His coming. The funeral service was taken by Eugene Higgins."
  • Mrs. Velma Joye +1983 (1895-1983)
    • "Mrs. Velma Joye of Longport, N.J. on Aug. 17, age 88. Our dear sister was born in Peterboro, Ontario. She and her husband came to Detroit in 1923 and God saved her during a gospel series in the old Central Hall in Detroit. For many years she was in fellowship in Ferndale but lately has resided in the Home at Longport. Her husband predeceased her in 1971. William Lavery spoke at the funeral services."

1985

  • Nellie Eachus 1972-1985 (1882-1985)
    • With Christ: "Miss Nellie Eachus of Longport, N.J. on Jan. 20, age 102. Our dear sister was born in England in 1882 and was saved at the age of 17. A year later she was baptized and received into fellowship. In 1929, she came to the United States and in 1972, she entered the home at Longport. It could be said of Nellie that "she walked with God" as she lived her life to please Him. She placed the utmost value on the "Breaking of Bread" and during her long life, she was privileged to Break Bread for 84 years."
  • Winifred Frederick 1977-1985 (1895-1985)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Winifred Frederick of Longport, N.J. on Jan. 25, age 89. Our dear sister was born in Belfast, N. Ireland in 1895 and was born again on Nov. 18, 1917. For 45 years she was in assembly fellowship in Donora, PA before coming to the Longport home in Oct., 1977. Her last years were quite a trial as she suffered much."
  • Robert Harbison 1977-1985 (1894-1985)
    • With Christ: "Robert Harbison of Bryn Mawr, PA on Jan. 30, age 90. Our dear brother was invited to gospel meetings in Bryn Mawr in January, 1924. He returned each night uninvited for two weeks and in his own home on Jan. 20, 1924 he rested on Christ alone for salvation. The unsearchable riches of Christ were a source of wonder and meditation throughout his life. His last seven years were spent in the Longport Home. William Oliver spoke a fitting word in the gospel at the graveside."
  • Edith F. Rue ?-1985 (1902-1985)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Edith F. Rue of Longport, N.J. on Feb. 8, age 82. Our dear sister was born in 1903 and was saved in her teens. For many years she was in fellowship in Pennsauken, where her husband Herbert was a respected elder. Mrs. Rue was a faithful sister throughout her lifetime. For the past few years, she resided in the Longport Home. Norman Crawford and Eugene Higgins shared the funeral services."

    • With Christ: "Robert Smith of McKeesport, PA on Feb. 12, age 89. Our dear brother was saved as a young man and for years was in the fellowship in the old Friendship Avenue assembly in Pittsburgh. He is survived by his wife who is in the Longport Home. His immediate family are all in assembly fellowship. At his funeral, Harold F. Clark spoke words of hope and comfort to the family and words of warning to the unsaved."

    • With Christ: "Thomas Pruitt of Longport, NJ on June 13, age 90. Our dear brother was born in 1895 at Snowthill, MD and was saved in Nov., 1905. He was in assembly fellowship in the Philadelphia area most of his married life before retiring and coming to Longport. He was the husband of William Moon's sister and came to the home with her over 25 years ago to help."
  • Thomas Williams 1946-1985 (1899-1985) cofounder & President 1965-1985
    • With Christ: "Thomas Williams of Barrington, NJ on Oct. 4, age 86. Our esteemed brother was born in Cornwall, England and came to the U.S.A. as a boy of 12. He was a Sunday School Superintendent in a denomination and was saved while quoting Isaiah 1:18 in prayer. At great personal cost, he came into assembly fellowship at Barrington around 1940. For many years he was a faithful, warm, kind and respected overseer. He was one of the founders of Longport Home and served as President for the past 20 years."
  • William Lusk ?-1985 (1898-1985)
    • WIS: "Our dear brother, William Lusk, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 13. He was born in Kilbernie, Scotland on Apr. 10, 1898. He came to the Home in Longport from the Kearny, N.J. Assembly. His wife is presently living at the Home. He also leaves a son, a daughter and grandchildren."
  • Carrie J. Forman 1979-1985 (1888-1985)
    • WIS: "Our aged sister, Mrs. Carrie J. Forman, age 97, passed into His presence on Nov. 1. She was born in Philadelphia on Feb. 27, 1888. She came to the Longport Home in May 1979. A daughter, Mrs. Albert Crompton, who is comforted by that blessed hope, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive."
  • Catherine H. Conaway 1978-1985 (1895-1985)
    • WIS: "Our dear sister, Miss Catherine H. Conaway, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 3. She was born in Phillipsburg, PA on July 26, 1895 and saved in Jan. of 1913. She came to the Home at Longport in November 1978. She was a sister of the late John Conaway, a well-known servant of Christ, whose wife Florence presently resides at the Home."
    • T&T: With Christ: "Miss Catherine H. Conaway of Longport, NJ on Nov. 3, age 90. Our dear sister was born in Philadelphia, PA and was saved in January, 1913. After many years in assembly fellowship, she came to the Longport Home in November, 1978. Miss Conaway was the sister of the late John Conaway whose wife is presently at the Home."

1986

  • Nina Batstone Stenhouse 1986 (1898-1986)
    • T&T "With Christ": "Mrs. Nina Stenhouse of Longport, N.J. (formerly of Santiago, Chile) on Aug. 25, age 88. Our dear sister was born in Nova Scotia. For over half a century, Mr. and Mrs. Stenhouse pioneered for the Lord as missionaries in Chile and saw the hand of God in salvation and the formation of assemblies in that country. Both came to reside in the Home for Aged Christians in April of this year. She leaves behind her husband, an only son, two sisters and two brothers."
    • pioneer missionaries to Santiago, Chile arriving in Dec. 1927, did radio work, wrote Spanish Gospel tracts, co-edited "Palabras Fieles". Authored "The Sin of Sectarianism", a volume of church history and doctrine. Also, "Counting on God", pub. 1976, an autobiography.
    • LOI 1986-11: "Nina Stenhouse, 88, of Longport, New Jersey, on Aug. 25th. Nina and her husband Andrew spent more than half a century as missionaries in Chile."
  • Arthur Davenport 1946/1983-1986 (1900-1986)
    • With Christ: "Arthur Davenport of Longport, N.J. on Sept. 4, age 86. Our dear brother was born in Radcliffe, England and came to the United States at the age of 11. He was saved in 1934 and later received into fellowship in the old Atlantic City assembly (now Longport). For 50 years he was in this assembly and served as correspondent for some time. He was active in the early days of the beginning of the Home, where he came to live in 1983."

1987

  • Elizabeth McKelvey ?-1987 (1889-1987)
    • T&T/WIS: With Christ: "Miss Elizabeth McKelvey of Bryn Mawr, PA on Jan. 3, age 97. Our esteemed sister was a native of N. Ireland and was saved in the U.S. about 60 years ago through the preaching of James Marshall. For many years she was in the Bryn Mawr assembly. In recent years, she was a resident of the home in Longport. From her conversion, she maintained an active interest in the spread of the gospel. Workers in distant lands knew the benefit of her exercise. She occupied herself with knitting or whatever would help the work. 'She hath done what she could.' The assembly will miss the presence of such a saint whose true spiritual worth will not be known until the Bema. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Margaret Clark, of the Finaghy Assembly in Northern Ireland, who is now residing at Faith House in Belfast."

  • Mary Reid Brown 1982-1987 (1896-1987)
    • With Christ: "Mary (Reid) Brown of Longport, N.J. on March 19, age 90. Our dear sister was born on May 23, 1896 in Fall River, MA and born again in 1909. She came into the Home at Longport in 1982. Previously, she was in fellowship in the assembly at Sunnyslope, Arizona for many years. Mary Brown was a quiet and godly sister in Christ who will be missed."
  • Fred Taylor 1977-1987 (1901-1987)
    • With Christ: "Fred Taylor of Bryn Mawr, PA on May 25, age 86. Our beloved brother came from Ireland in 1927 and obtained work on an estate where Christians worked with him. They brought him to gospel meetings where he first learned that he needed to be born again. Oswald MacLeod spoke that night on John 3. Bro. Taylor was saved in 1927 through the truth of John 6:37. Faithful to the assembly, concerned that it be preserved in scriptural ways, he served the Lord and the assembly as an overseer for years. Shortly after he lost his wife in 1977, he went to the Longport home. Prayer is requested for the salvation of his only grandson."
  • Roger Greer (1906-1987) Trustee
    • With Christ: "Roger Greer of Bryn Mawr, PA on June 16, age 81. Our dear brother was saved in Ireland at the age of 12 and came to the U.S. in 1926. In the thirties, he spent time laboring in the gospel, but moved in 1936 to Bryn Mawr, where he served as an elder for over 30 years. Our brother was a help in the Longport Home, serving on the board of directors. He had an excellent knowledge of Scripture and a deep love for the preaching of the gospel. His manner of expressing himself was inimitable."

    • With Christ: "Mrs. Geraldine Macmillan of Longport, N.J. on Sept. 4. Our dear sister was born in Shantung, China of missionary parents in 1988 and was born again at the age of 14. With her husband, she lived in the Boston area for many years. She came to the Longport Home in 1972. Mrs. Macmillan was a happy, satisfied Christian, affectionately known to many as "Aunt Cherry." One son, Francis, survives."
  • Robert Stewart 1984-1987 (1890-1987)
    • With Christ: "Robert Stewart of Longport, NJ on Nov. 24, age 97. Our dear brother was born in Northern Ireland in 1890 and was born again Philadelphia, PA in 1940. For about 25 years, he was in fellowship at Bryn Mawr before coming to Longport Home in 1984. He leaves two sons and a daughter, all awaiting reunion in heaven. One son, Gilbert, serves the Lord in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Ruth Ann Baker (d. 1987) former employee, not resident of the Home
    • T&T/WIS: With Christ: "Ruth Ann Baker of Toronto, Ohio on Dec. 26, age 50. Our dear sister professed faith in Christ in 1957 and was in fellowship in Toronto, Ohio into the early 1960's. She worked at one time at the Longport Home for the Aged as a nurse, and was working in a hospital in Dallas, Texas at the time of her homecall. Ruth was the eldest daughter of Frank and Grace Baker of the Toronto, OH assembly. Remember in prayer her parents, and a brother, Frederick are in the Toronto Assembly. She also leaves a sister, Glenna in Oklahoma. All are comforted by that blessed hope and prospect of His coming."

  • George Crawford ?-1988 (1901-1988)
    • With Christ: "George Crawford of Longport, N.J. on Jan. 27, age 87. Our dear brother came to the Sates from N. Ireland and attended gospel meetings by Benjamin Bradford and H. McEwen in Philadelphia. At the third meeting, George embraced the truth of the gospel which marked his life with a happy spirit, a keen interest in the Word and a great value for God's gathering centre. He served faithfully as a Trustee at the Longport Home for a number of years. He leaves his widow Charlotte at the Home. The well represented funeral was shared by William and David Oliver.
  • Mary G. Scott ?-1988 (1893-1988)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Mary G. Scott of Longport, NJ on Feb. 10, age 95. Our dear sister was born in Ireland and came to the U.S.A. in 1918. On Jan. 3, 1920, she attended her first gospel meeting in Philadelphia and was awakened and saved that evening. She was in fellowship in the 20th and Dickinson assembly until 1958 when she moved to Bryn Mawr. Miss Scott served as a child nurse and raised two generations of one family. She was marked by a thankful spirit and had a keen interest in the assembly and gospel work."
  • Ruth Elder 1980-1988 (1901-1988)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Ruth Elder of Longport, N.J. on Oct. 9, age 87. Our dear sister was the eldest daughter of Samuel McEwen, well-known evangelist who passed away in 1944. On Dec. 23, 1916, during meetings by W. Armstrong and G. Winemiller, she was saved through 1 Pet. 2:24. Apart from the 11 years she and her husband Waverly were in fellowship in Kentucky, she was in the Matoaca, VA assembly until coming to the Home in 1980. She maintained a deep interest in the welfare of the Matoaca assembly. Her sweet disposition and kind smile will be missed."
  • Peter Macpherson 1978-1988 (1920-1988) not a resident of the Home
    • With Christ: "Peter Macpherson of Longport, NJ on Dec. 23, age 68. Our dear brother was born in Bathgate, Scotland and came to the United States in 1926. He was raised under the sound of the gospel in Donora, PA, where his mother was in fellowship. He was born again at the age of 27 and was received into the fellowship of the Friendship assembly in Pittsburgh and later was in McKeesport. About 10 years ago, he moved to Somers Point, N.J. and was in fellowship in the Longport assembly. He went to be with the Lord after a brief illness."

    • With Christ: "Jessie Hughes of New Lenox, Illinois on Mar. 29, age 88. Our beloved sister was born in Scotland and came to the United States in 1916. It was in the same year that she received the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour. She was in the Schoolcraft assembly, Detroit, and then in the Joliet assembly before going to the Longport Home. She leaves two nephews, one in the New Lenox assembly, and one living in California. The funeral was held in the Gospel Hall Home for the Aged, Longport, N.J."
  • Margaret Patterson 1984-1989 (1899-1989)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Margaret Patterson of Longport, N.J. on April 10, age 90. Our dear sister was born in Glasgow, Scotland and was born again in her early years. She was in assembly fellowship for many years before coming to the Gospel Hall Home for the Aged in April, 1984. She is survived by two sons, one sister and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren."
  • Marguerite Keller 1981-1989 (1891-1989)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Marguerite Keller of Longport, N.J. on April 14, age 98. Our dear sister was saved at the age of 18 and was in fellowship in the Harrisburg, PA assembly for over 72 years before coming to the Gospel Hall Home for the Aged. Mrs. Keller was the widow of John Keller, a brother of the Lord's servants, Charles and Samuel Keller. She is survived by one son and one grandson."
  • Emma Firm 1984-1989 (1892-1989)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Emma Firm of Toronto, Ohio on April 14, age 97. Our beloved sister was saved at the age of 17 at Tilsonburg, Ontario. She was in assembly fellowship in Toronto and Steubenville since 1918 and at the Home at Longport, N.J. for the last 4 1/2 years. She was a faithful mother in Israel who will be greatly missed by all. Mrs. Firm was predeceased by her husband William in 1974 and by a son in 1986. She leaves three sons, one still unsaved, and a daughter in assembly fellowship. The large funeral was taken by Oswald MacLeod, with H. Clark speaking at the graveside."

    • With Christ: "Mrs. Florence Conaway of Longport, N.J. on April 27, age 92. Our beloved sister was saved at the age of 24 after much soul distress. In 1926, she was united in marriage to John P. Conaway, well known servant of the Lord, to whom she was a true helpmeet until he was taken home in 1951. Mrs. Conaway had a good grasp of assembly truths and was steadfast in her convictions to the end. Her spirit of contentment and appreciation of the care given her in the Home was an inspiration to others. The funeral was taken by O.L. MacLeod, who was associated with Mr. Conaway in his early days."
  • Christine C. Trexel 1983-1989 (1911-1989)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Christine C. Trexel of Longport, N.J. on July 3, age 78. Our beloved sister was born in Western Pennysylvania and was saved in Pittsburgh on Aug. 29, 1933. She and her husband Ernest, who predeceased her in 1980, were in happy fellowship in Everett, PA for many years. In 1975 they moved to the Bryn Mawr assembly. Christine resided in the Longport Home since 1983. She had a faithful testimony in the school district where she taught for 44 years. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Dennison, and two nephews who mourn her passing but await the shout."

  • Kathryn F. Hawk 1982-1990 (1900-1990)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Kathryn F. Hawk of Longport, N.J. on Feb. 25, age 90. Our dear sister was born on Mar. 19, 1899 in Boness, Scotland and was born again in 1915. At age 19, she came to the United States. She was commended to the Longport assembly from Donora, PA, where she was in assembly fellowship for 47 years. Mrs. Hawk was a resident of the Gospel Hall Home for the Aged for the past eight years. She was the widow of Clyde F. Hawk and is survived by one son, Minor C. Hawk."
  • Catherene Phoebe Randolph 1989-1990 (1907-1990)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Catherene Phoebe Randolph of Longport, N.J. on April 19, age 82. Our dear sister was born in New Jersey in 1907 and was born again in 1921. She came to the Longport Home in 1989 from the Tenafly, N.J. area and was in poor health during her entire stay at the Home. Mrs. Randolph leaves one son and one sister, both saved by the grace of God."
  • Henry Dittmeyer 1985-1990 (1898-1990)
    • With Christ: "Henry Dittmeyer of Longport, N.J. on April 27, age 92. Our dear brother was born in Scotland in 1898 and saved there at the age of 16. He came to the United States in 1922 and lived for many years in Northern New Jersey. From 1965 to 1984, he was in Florida. In 1985, he came to Longport Home from McKeesport. He laves his wife, Ruth, one son and one daughter, all sheltered by the blood."
  • Mrs. Vernon Slate 1960/1976-1990 (1905-1990)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Vernon Slate of Longport, N.J. on April 28, age 85. Our dear sister was brought up in Petersburg, Virginia near the Gospel Hall. She attended Sunday School, and after marrying Thomas Hardy, was saved there through the preaching of the late Samuel McEwen in 1931. After she was widowed, she worked during 1960 in the Longport Home. In 1976, she and her husband, Linwood Slade, moved into the Home. Her friends will miss her gentle, kind and cheerful Christian manner. The funeral service was taken by David Oliver."
  • Violet Smith 1984-1990 (1909-1990)
    • With Christ: "Miss Violet Smith of Longport, N.J. on May 6, age 81. Our dear sister was born in Plainfield, N.J. in 1909 and was saved around 1961 and was interested in Sunday School and missionary work. In 1984, she came to Longport Home, where she was very helpful when able. Edgar Chambers took the brief funeral service at the Longport Home and the main service was in Plainfield."
  • Lucy Butler 1981-1990 (1902-1990)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Lucy Butler of Longport, N.J. on July 8, age 88. Our dear sister was born in Goshen, CT and saved on Sept. 2, 1926. Before coming to Longport Home in 1981, Lucy was in fellowship in the Waterville, Terryville and Torrington assemblies and she faithfully attended the assembly meetings. She was a widow with no children and is survived by a brother Luke Richard, and a sister Mrs. Evelyn Williams of Torrington. Lucy lived a selfless life, seeking always to be a help to others."
  • Mrs. Frank D'Augustino 1984-1990 (1909-1990)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Frank D'Augustino of Longport, N.J. on Aug. 14, age 81. Our dear sister was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1909 and was born again in 1971 through cottage meetings in Sweetwater, N.J. She was baptized on Dec. 30, 1984 and was later received into assembly fellowship for a brief time at New Creek, W.V. Mrs. D'Augustino was a very willing worker and was once employed by the Gospel Hall Home."
  • Ruth Sutherland Morrison 1972-1990 (1900-1990)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Ruth (Sutherland) Morrison of Longport, N.J. on Nov. 5, age 90. Our beloved sister was saved at the age of 12 in England and went to be with the Lord from the Gospel Hall Home, Longport, where she was a former worker and later resident since 1972. For many years, she was in Bryn Mawr, PA and always displayed a quiet, pleasant and contented spirit. She is survived by her husband, Roy, seven children who all share that blessed hope, 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Many family members heard the gospel at her funeral taken by G. Higgins and D. Oliver."

    • With Christ: "Isabella (Mrs. Edward) Niebch of Longport, N.J. on Nov. 22, age 82. Our dear sister was saved in Scotland at 18 and was the daughter of Richard Roberts, who preached the gospel on this continent and died in the 1950's. Given to hospitality, she and her husband faithfully supported the York, NY assembly until 1982 when the assembly ceased to exist. At that time, they moved to Longport to help at the Home. Her husband tenderly cared for her during her last years of rapid decline. Please pray for some in her family who remain outside of Christ."

  • Hilda Grob 1976-1991 (1901-1991)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Hilda Grob of Longport, N.J. on Jan. 5, age 90. Our dear sister was saved on April 8, 1917 at the close of a gospel meet in the Addison Road Gospel Hall, Cleveland, Ohio while singing the lovely hymn, "Oh, be saved, His grace is free! Oh, be saved, He died for thee!" She continued in fellowship in Cleveland for 56 years. In Oct. 1976, she moved to the Longport Home where she was lovingly cared for. Mrs. Grob had the joy of seeing her four sons saved by God's wondrous grace."

    • With Christ: "Charlotte Crawford (nee Carson) of Longport, N.J. on Feb. 3, age 97. Our dear sister was born in Armoy, Co. Antrim, N. Ireland on Oct. 7, 1893 and was saved in meetings by Joseph Stewart and William McCracken in her own town on Jan. 13, 1918, through the words, "Deliver him from going down to the pit" (Job 33:24). She and her husband George, who went to be with the Lord several years ago, were in fellowship at Bryn Mawr, Olney, Barrington and finally Longport. A humble, quiet and godly sister, she was always cheerful and sought to be a help in any way she could."

    • With Christ: "Thelma H. Slack of Longport, N.J. on Feb. 25, 1991. Our dear sister was born in Indiana in 1899. Although (handicapped), she was able to understand the gospel and was saved on Dec. 20, 1930. For many years, she was in fellowship in Mansfield, Ohio, before coming to the Longport Home with her parents in 1963. As long as health permitted, she proved to be a willing helper at the Home and was a dear soul, much loved by all. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Marjorie Burson of Mansfield."

    • With Christ: "Gustave (Bud) Semrau of Longport, N.J. on Mar. 13, age 74, after a prolonged illness. Our esteemed brother was born in Detroit, Michigan and saved at the age of eight. For many years he was in assembly fellowship in Ferndale and the last 18 years in Longport, where he served as correspondent. He was well known for his tape ministry, but in the U.S.A. and overseas. Surviving are his wife Betty, two sons, two daughters, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral held in the Gospel Hall Home was taken by William Lavery."

She was in assembly fellowship for many years before coming to the Longport Home in 1967. During her earlier years, she was very active in children's work. Just recently, one of her scholars, who was saved, visited her at the Home and expressed great gratitude for Mrs. Howie's interest in her soul. She is survived by one son. Gene Higgins took the funeral at the Home."
  • Elizabeth Duncan 1950-1991 (1899-1991)
    • With Christ: Elizabeth Duncan of Longport, N.J. on May 20, age 92. Our dear sister was born in Paisley, Scotland on April 20, 1899 and was saved as a young adult after immigrating to the United States in the 1920's. She was in the Longport Home since 1950 when she came with her mother. When first a resident, she worked in various capacities. She was always a happy sister, rejoicing in the Lord despite her many infirmities."
  • Mrs. Caroline Moon 1978-1991
    • With Christ: Mrs. Caroline Moon of Longport, N.J. on June 2. Our dear sister was saved in her early 20's while under the sound of the gospel preached by Brethren Conaway and Halliday in Philadelphia. She was a faithful sister who had been in fellowship with the Olney assembly before going to the Longport Home in 1978. Mrs. Moon is survived by two sons, Edwin and Bruce. She and her husband George were instrumental in helping establish the Home in Longport. Mrs. Moon represented the last of that generation who had been associated with the Home through the years."
  • John Walker ?-1991 (1904-1991)
    • With Christ: "John Walker of Longport, N.J. on June 6, age 87. Our beloved brother went home suddenly, leaving a fragrant testimony. Saved in 1918 while conversing with his mother, he became a Methodist pastor near Indiana, PA. Through newspaper articles and the influence of R. Crawford, F. Hunter, A. Klabunda and P. Plubell, he sacrificed everything to gather with the Indiana assembly, later serving as correspondent. He and his dear wife were given to hospitality. In subsequent moves, his godly character contributed to the assemblies in Matoaca, Frostburg and Longport."
  • Ernest L. Ganoe, Sr. (1908-1991) not as a resident of Longport Home
    • With Christ: "Ernest L. Ganoe, Sr. of Cumberland, MD on Aug. 5, age 83. Our dear brother first heard the gospel at work from Russell Evans of the Frostburg assembly. After some years, Mr. Ganoe came under conviction of sin and was saved at work on Dec. 8, 1953. He was in the assembly at Cumberland for many years and faithfully attended all the meetings. He was also for a short time in the assembly in Longport, N.J. Bro. Ganoe was very faithful in giving out the gospel in tract form and in personal words. Walter Gustafson conducted the well attended funeral."
  • Andrew Stenhouse 1986-1991 (1900-1991)
    • With Christ: "Andrew Stenhouse of Longport, N.J. on Sept. 19, age 91. Our dear brother was born in Loanhead, Scotland and was saved in Scotland in 1909. He married Nina Batstone in 1925 and both were commended to full time service in the work of the Lord. After serving for a short time in Argentine, he went to Chile in Dec. 1927 and served in that land until 1980, seeing the Lord's hand in blessing on his labours over many years. He and his wife came to Longport Home in 1986 and Mrs. Stenhouse went to be with the Lord the same year. He is survived by one son, Allen, and two grandchildren."
  • Sarah Cooper 1988-1991 (1901-1991)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Sarah Cooper of Longport, N.J. on Nov. 7, age 90. Our dear sister was born in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland and saved on April 12, 1922 in Annalong where she lived with her husband James. She saw him saved a short time later. Coming to New York City in 1930, she and her husband James were associated with the city assembly until 1963 when they moved to the Bryn Mawr PA area, where they enjoyed happy fellowship. Her husband preceded her in 1970 and she moved to the Home in 1988. Prayer is requested for a number of her family who heard the gospel message by W. Oliver at her funeral."
  • William O'Neill 1985-1991 (1903-1991)
    • With Christ: "William O'Neill of Longport, N.J. on Dec. 29, age 88. Our dear brother was born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland in 1903 and was saved there in 1923. He came to the United States as a young man and was in fellowship in East Pittsburgh, PA for 62 years before coming to the Longport Home in 1985. His wife predeceased him. He is survived by three single sisters who are in a nursing home in Pennsylvania. The funeral in Turtle Creek, PA was taken by Harold Clark and Kenneth McCullough."
  • Otto Harding 1947+ (1898-1991)
    • With Christ: Otto Harding of Tampa, FL on Dec. 31, age 93, and his beloved wife, Alice Harding on Jan. 6 (1992). Our esteemed brother and sister had been married over 70 years. Both were saved on June 19, 1930, just two hours apart after attending meetings by J. Watt in Barrington, N.J. Both were received into fellowship in Camden, N.J. where they continued steadfastly until they retired in 1963 and moved to Florida. From that time on, they were in fellowship in North Tampa, where our brother was an elder for many years. Otto and Alice were very faithful to all the meetings and very helpful in the assembly. Bro. Harding, along with W. Moon, T. Williams, and R. Greer, was instrumental in founding the Longport Home, where he served on the Board of Trustees for many years. They are survived by one son David and four grandchildren."

  • Louise Hawkins Bayne 1985-1992 (1915-1992)
    • With Christ: "Mrs. Louise (Hawkins) Bayne of Longport, N.J. on Mar. 6, age 77. Our dear sister was born in Virginia and was born again as a child. Her husband, Carroll B. Bayne, predeceased her in 1982. Mrs. Bayne was in fellowship in Maryland from 1973 until illness prevented her attendance at the meetings. In 1985, she came to the Longport Home and was in the infirmary from the time she came until her homecall. The funeral was held in Maryland.
  • Abram Vandenbush 1988-1992 (1902-1992)
    • With Christ: "Abram Van Den Bush of Longport, N.J. on Feb. 5, age 90. Our dear brother did not hear the gospel until he was 25, and was saved in the second gospel meeting he attended. For three years, he and his wife sought a Scriptural place to gather, before they came in contact with the Patterson assembly. A few years later, they moved to Midland Park, and in 1950 to Waterbury (now Terryville) where he was active in the assembly until 1988. He served as correspondent for 17 years, and with his wife, enjoyed entertaining the Lord's people. In 1988, they moved to Longport Home."

    • With Christ: "Alfred S. Flint of Longport, N.J. on Sept. 22, age 82. Our dear brother was born in Wakefield, MA and was born again on Aug. 9, 1933. Before coming to the Longport Home with his wife Rita in early 1991, he was in fellowship in assemblies in Byfield, MA; Saugus, MA; Torrington, CT; and Springfield, MA. He is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter, all saved. The funeral was held at the Home, and was shared by William Hanley and Dale Vitale."

    • With Christ: "Mrs. Emily (John) McClelland of Longport, N.J. on Mar. 24, age 82. Our dear sister was saved in 1916 and was in fellowship in various assemblies in the Philadelphia area before entering a nursing home in N.J. Mr. and Mrs. McClelland came to the Longport Home in 1990. Mrs. McClelland was in the infirmary the whole time at Longport and was a sweet, patient and thankful sister. Her husband, John, survives as well as three daughters, all saved. The funeral was outside Philadelphia."
