- Saved on Oct. 19, 1879, according to an inscription inside the cover of a commentary on Peter by William Lincoln, that John owned, that is now in Doug Engle's archive, as of 2022.
- John was among the founders of the first assembly in Iowa, in 1887, the What Cheer Gospel Hall, followed by the Forbush Gospel Hall, and eventually amalgamated to become Centerville Gospel Hall which folded in 2009.
