Amadio family

T&T 1974-4: Bryn Mawr, PA: "Our dear brother Albert Amadio went to be with the Lord on July 20th, aged 79. He was born in Italy and born again in Ardmore, Pa. on his 23rd birthday. After, he was baptized and received into fellowship and has been a steady influence ever since. A large number of relatives and friends gathered at the funeral take by our brothers Jim Smith and Bill Oliver."

T&T 1977-12: "Mrs. Albert (Bessie) Amadio of Bryn Mawr, PA., on Aug. 31, age 72. Our dear sister was born near Port Glasgow, Scotland and saved in the same district at 14 years of age. She and others in her family in Scotland were reached as the result of an older sister being brought to the Sunday School. After a time of concern, she was saved through Isaiah 12:2 following a regular Sunday night gospel meeting. She has been faithful in the Bryn Mawr assembly since coming here in younger years. The funeral was shared by William and David Oliver."

WiS 1977-11: B.M., PA: "Our beloved sister Mrs. Albert Amadio went to be with the Lord on Aug. 31, 1977 aged 73. Her maiden name Elizabeth McPherson (sic), she was saved at Port Glasgow, Scotland when 15 and has been in fellowship in this Assembly for 53 years. She leaves 2 sons and one daughter, Mary, of this Assembly. Her husband predeceased her a few years, the family has that 'Blessed Hope'."

  • Alberto "Albert" Amadio 1918-1974 (b. 1895 Castel di Lama, Ascoli Piceno, Marche, Italy - d. 1974 Bryn Mawr, PA), son of Amedeo Amadio (b. 1856 Italy) & Giulia Celani Amadio. Albert was saved on 1-6-1918 on his birthday, and inducted in Ardmore on 4-28-1918 to WWI, serving overseas from 6-15-1918 to 3-27-1919 in the Def. Sector, Meuse-Argonne, Flanders, & Escout-Handes-Offs with no injuries. He was stationed as a Private with 31st Co., 8th Batt., 155th Dep. Brig. until 5-27-1918, then with Co. C in the 145th Infantry until his honorable discharge on 4-14-1919 at Camp Dix in New Jersey upon demobilization. In 1942, he was employed as a building mechanic for Philadelphia Electric Co. (now PECO), at 10th & Chestnut St., and may have retired with this company that was founded in 1881 and currently provides electricity to most of the area.
  • Elizabeth "Bessie" Chalmers McPherson Amadio 1924-1977 (b. 1905 Port Glasgow, Scot. - d. 1977 Ardmore, PA), daughter of John Crawford McPherson (b. 1861 Ladyburn, Greenock, Scot. - d. 1939 Port Glasgow, Scot.) & Mary Martin Chalmers McPherson (b. 1865 Greenock West, Renfrew, Scot. - d. 1940 Port Glasgow, Scot.).
    • Albert M. Amadio, Jr. 1930-1948+ (b. 1930 Ardmore, PA - d. 2015 Williamstown, Gloucester, NJ). Wife (1953): Bethann M. Romeo Amadio (b. 1933 Haddonfield, NJ - d. 2017), daughter of Francesco "Frank" Romeo (b. 1886 Reggio Calabria, Italy; d. 1956 Westmont, NJ) & Helen Moon Romeo (b. 1889 Belfast, Ire. - d. 1968 Longport, NJ). In 1950, Helen operated a greeting card store in Haddon, NJ. Bethann's uncle was William Moon, Jr. (b. 1892 Ireland - d. 1965 Longport, NJ) who founded the Longport Gospel Hall Home in New Jersey which operated 1946-2000. William's wife was Naomi Daisy McEwen Moon (b. 1911 Dinwiddie, VA - d. 1981 Longport, NJ), daughter of Samuel McEwen, Sr. (b. 1877 NYC, NY - d. 1944 Matoaca, VA) who ministered at Bryn Mawr Gospel Hall in 1912. His memorial was at the Barrington Gospel Hall in New Jersey.
    • Mary J. Amadio 1933-1951+ (b. 1933 Ardmore, PA - d. 2013 Marlton, Burlington, NJ). Husband: Harris Edmund Mizener (b. 1912 Brantford, ON - d. 2000 Bryn Mawr, PA), son of Arthur Scott Mizener (b. 1883 Chicago, IL - d. 1976 Detroit, MI) & Corinne Elizabeth Harris Mizener (b. 1887 Ingersoll, Oxford, ON - d. 1968 Detroit, MI). Corinne's father, Judd Harris (1859-1945), was a notable fruit producer, a pioneer in spraying orchards and well-known as an apple packer and exporter. Harris' first wife was Ruth Kennedy Mizener (b. 1915 Westerly, Washington, RI - d. 1978 Follansbee, Brooke, WV), daughter of John Christy Kennedy (b. 1889 Aberdeen, Scot. - d. 1962 Westerly, RI) & Jeanne Anne Cowie Kennedy (b. 1886 Old Machar, Aberdeen, Scot. - d. 1970 Westerly, RI).
    • John McPherson Amadio 1936-2022 (b. 1936 Ardmore, PA - d. 2022 Evesham Twp., NJ). At the age of 14, John owned his own paper route service. In the early 1960's, he was serving in the U.S. Navy while residing in Norwich, CT. His wife is a daughter of William James Scott (b. 1912 Phil., PA - d. 1984 Burlington Co., NJ) & S. Naomi Eisele Scott (b. 1915 Centre, Camden, NJ - d. 2004 Moorestown, Burlington, NJ). In 1940, William was living in Barrington, NJ, employed with the Philadelphia & Norfolk Steamship Co. In 1950, he resided in Audubon, NJ and employed as supervisor of a chemical company. William & Naomi were in fellowship for many years with the Barrington Gospel Hall. In 1920, Naomi's father, Gustav Adolph Eisele (b. 1879 Phil., PA - d. 1967 Camden, NJ) was employed as a toolmaker of gas mantels, previously in 1910 as a foreman machinist. Gustav's father, Jakob Friedrich "Frederick" Eisele II (b. 1839 Alb-Donau-Kreis, Germany - d. 1911 Camden, NJ) was employed in 1880 in Philadelphia as a bread baker.

    • Hugh Campbell (b. 1889 Phil., PA - d. 1980 Wheat Ridge, Jefferson, CO). Wife: Emily M. Thompson Campbell (b. 1892 Ardmore, PA - d. 1994 Lakewood, CO), daughter of Thomas Rohrman Thompson (b. 1856 Merion Park, Montgomery, PA - d. 1945 Upper Darby, Delaware, PA) & Margaret Annie Sheldon Thompson (b. 1864 General Wayne, Lower Merion, PA - d. 1947 Gladwyne, Montgomery, PA).
    • Elsie Campbell (b. 1893 VA). In 1920, she was still living at home, and employed as a public schoolteacher.

Crook family

WiS 1939-9: B.M., PA: "Mrs. Frank W. Crook, after a lingering illness, passed on home to glory August the 5th. For many years associated with the Bryn Mawr assembly. A good woman gone and will be missed. W.H. Hunter spoke at the services."

Husband: Dr. Henry Sachtleben Kinloch (b. 1887 Charleston, SC - d. 1971 Rosemont, Chester, PA), son of St. John Phillips Kinloch (1857-1942 Charleston, SC) & Mary Bohun Sachtleben Kinloch (b. 1860 St. Stephens, Charleston, SC - d. 1924 Columbia, Richland, SC). Episcopal wedding. Dr. Kinloch was a retired chief surgeon for the Maryland Casualty Insurance Co., of Philadelphia, a 1911 grad of the U of Penn Medical School, served a residency at Bryn Mawr hospital, and a Navy lieutenant in WWI as a surgeon aboard the destroyer USS Talbot.
    • John Graham Crook (b. 1897 Phil., PA - d. 1933 Rochester, Monroe, NY). In 1930, John was an auto salesman. Wife: Eleanor Margaret Maria Sours Crook-Walker (1898-1970 Rochester, NY), daughter of Albert T. Sours (b. 1852 Irondequoit, Monroe, NY - d. 1876 Rochester, NY) & Mary Angelina Noonan Sours (1876-1940 Rochester, NY).
    • Marion Crook (b. 1899 Phil., PA). Primary schoolteacher in 1950 in Lower Merion Twp., Montgomery, PA.
    • Ethel V. Crook (1903-1980 Phil., PA). In 1950, Ethel was employed as a nurse in a graduate hospital in Phil.
    • Charles Walter Crook (b. 1905 Phil., PA - d. 1983 Burlington, NJ). 1940 @ Burlington, NJ. Wife: Naomi Frances Borden Crook (b. 1903 Burlington, NJ - d. 1992 Mount Holly, Burlington, NJ).
