Address
Hunt's Seminary, on 6th & K Streets, was also known as Sacramento Young Ladies'Seminary, with a principal of W.S. Hunt who served from 1863 thru at least 1879, and was founded by Rev. Dr. Phelps on July 1st, 1862. Latin, Greek, and French were taught along with English, preparing young ladies for the teaching profession. W.S. Hunt is credited with "zealous and energetic efforts" maintaining a Presbyterian Sunday School after its founding church (1st Presbyterian) disbanded in the early 1860's, later to be replaced with Westminster Presbyterian.
This school evidently housed an Exclusive Brethren assembly in 1879, according to a List of Meetings from that time period.
