Commended Worker Reports
Everett Batchelder
1940's
1946
- L&L 1946-7: Alaska: Mr. Everett Batchelder, Box 201, Cordova, Alaska (home address Attleboro, Mass.): 5-30-46: via R.E.R. 6-10-46: "Our brethren, the Richards and Fentys, are bound for a new field of missionary endeavor, up in the fertile Matanuska valley, which is northwest of here. They left on the evening of May 23rd, going part way by boat, and thence by highway. With them are the children the Lord has given in their care. They are the children of natives, some of them orphans. In their new location, may the Lord greatly bless with souls saved, and another testimony raised up to His Name here in Alaska."

- L&L 1944-11: "From Christians Gathered Unto the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Attleboro, Massachusetts. To Christians Gathered in like manner in San Antonio, Texas, or elsewhere, Greetings: We are happy to commend Mr. and Mrs. N.D. Short to your fellowship and care and to the work of the Lord in San Antonio, Texas, or elsewhere as the Lord may lead. They plan to work D.V. in the Spanish speaking Mexican Colony. Our brother and sister have studied Spanish at Bible School and we believe the Lord has opened up this field of labor for them. We have enjoyed happy fellowship with them here in Attleboro and any kindness which may be extended to them will be pleasing to our Lord and Savior and also greatly appreciated by the Assembly from which they are commended to the Lord's work. Yours on Behalf of the Assembly meeting in His Name in Attleboro: O. Albert Johnson, Arthur O. Stebbings, Kenneth D. Brasier & James Ruddell."
1945
- L&L 1945-4: Sisters, Helpers in the Faith: Mrs. J.P. Anderson, Valentine, Arizona: March 10:
"Just last Saturday our young brother and sister Roy and Ruth Beverly from Maine reached our little town of Peach Springs on the Walapai Reservation. They are now settled in the back rooms of our Indian Chapel there. They are new in our fellowship, and young in the work, but are well taught in the Word, and have a letter of introduction from the assembly at Attleboro, Massachusetts.
Also have enjoyed the fellowship of the Phoenix Assembly the past three months or so. For the past two years we have been looking to the Lord to send someone to live at the Chapel and to take over the responsibility of the work on the reservation, since more folks are coming there, white and Indians, and we felt that someone should be there at all times as the town grew. Pray much for these young folks, that they may be given the wisdom and grace needed.
I hope now to have more time for the work down this way, which I have not had time nor strength to keep up, as much as it formerly was kept up. New people here a few weeks, then they move on, and we do want regular services at all these small communities. I contact a lot of service people quite regularly, my house is open to them at all times. The wives of some servicemen come here for help in various matters. God grant that all our activities may be to His honor alone."
- LOI 1945-8: 4138 San Fernando St., San Antonio, TX:
"In September of this year Mrs. Short and I will have been here one year working with the Mexican people in connection with Mr. E.D. Dresch in San Antonio, Texas. During this time we have seen some blessings of the Lord and His wings have been over us. Of His grace and mercy He fails not. Being hindered because of the language barrier at first we turned to the young people and children, and it seems just the work to which He called us, but now we take part in the Spanish and we are seeing the unsaved coming in.
In order to reach young fellows, we provided some sports equipment and were able to get them into a club meeting in which we gave them the gospel or had a testimony from a Christian passing through the city. On another evening we held a Bible study class for those interested, with a result that three of the boys professed Christ as Savior. Several fellows in one of the Sunday school classes have received Him as Lord and Master and show marked evidence of true conversion.
Mrs. Short too has been used to reach the girls, one of which received Christ and remembers the Lord with us every Sunday. There are others who have not seen their place at His feast. Mr. & Mrs. Dresch have been an inspiration to us, and we hope we have been of help to them in the Lord's service."

1954
- L&L 1954-1: Henry Petersen, 3227 Pontiac St., La Crescenta, Calif.: "Have been in New England during November with meetings in New Haven, Conn., Westerly, R.I., Groton, Conn., Attleboro and Boston, Mass. While in Groton, I was privileged to address the Annual Sunday School Teacher's Conference of the New England States. While most of the meetings have been ministry for the Saints, nine have professed faith in our blessed Lord. After visiting Pawtucket and Providence, R.I., I expect to be in the New York City and New Jersey area during part of December. The brethren in North End, Detroit have asked me to spend a month or more with the new chapel to be opened early in January, D.V. Will return then to the Bay Area in California where meetings are scheduled in Richmond, Parkside in San Francisco and Castro Valley near Oakland. Prayer will be greatly valued."
