This was a French open brethren assembly founded in 1979 and remained active through 2002-2004.
As early as 1971, visits were begun in this area, situated about a hundred kilometers upriver from the tip of the Gaspé peninsula. Cloridorme, a small coastal village and very parochial in its make-up, proved to be an exceptionally difficult place to work. Seven years later, one conversion led to another until there were six believers. The following year, Bible studies were begun on a weekly basis. On July 29, 1979, seven from the same family publicly identified themselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, being baptized in the local river. They immediately began celebrating the Lord's Supper together.
As time went on, necessary steps were taken to form a local assembly of believers and seek fellowship with other likeminded gatherings of the Lord's people around the province. Among the earliest commended workers to give a helping hand were Jean-Pierre Cloutier, René Lavoie and Jean Lépine. For the first dozen years or so, meetings were held in the home of Gérald and Ginette LeGuédard whose conversions in 1978/1979 were the catalyst for the launching of the assembly. Down through the years, this brother was the mainstay of the work, doing most of the teaching and pastoral work.
Reinforcements came in the late eighties with the arrival of Esther Martin who married a believer from the assembly. Esther had served the Lord as a commended worker at Assemblée Chrétienne Maranatha in Montreal for many years. A decade later the group moved to rented quarters on the main street of the village. A subsequent division in the assembly weakened the effort and the work eventually disappeared.
