History

This assembly began with the arrival of Don and Beth Cox in 1972, at the very outset of the tremendous growth spurt which characterized all francophone evangelical work in Québec during the 1970s and 80s. With the departure of the Cox family in 1980, Jean and Liliane Lépine arrived to continue the work. They in turn were followed in 1988 by Réjean and Danielle Joly. By the beginning of the 1990s, the assembly was without a fulltime worker until the arrival of Gabriel and Mélanie Paquin in 2011.

Today, the assembly functions with two elders and counts some twenty persons in regular attendance. Gabriel shoulders the lion’s share of preaching and teaching with outside help being brought in about once a month. There is a small Sunday School and a monthly youth activity at which attendance varies from 15 to 25 young people. Most of these are the result of the camping program, Joie de Vivre, that has been associated with this assembly since 1975.

Joie de Vivre represents the assembly’s major evangelistic outreach and prayer is asked for the parents of campers that they too might be reached through this effort. An annual Christmas Supper generates interest among some of the neighbors and one of the sisters makes regular hospital visits. Of course, all are encouraged to engage in personal evangelism.
