Wayne Edward Lipe

Wayne Edward Lipe was born Sept. 29, 1917 in Witt, Montgomery, Illinois, which was the site of the TW Witt Meeting Room from 1914-1999. His parents were Glen Lipe (b. 1893 Irving, Montgomery, IL - d. 1955 Montgomery Cy., IL) & Mira L. Compton Lipe (b. 1896 Witt, Montgomery, IL - d. 1948 Montgomery Cy., IL). From 1962-1965, Wayne lived in Alton, IL, a surburb of St. Louis, and he was regarded in fellowship with the TW brethren there, and may have been involved with an assembly, perhaps in his home, there, known as East Alton Meeting Room.
Wayne's father, Glen, was the son of William Marshall Lipe (b. 1853 Irving, Montgomery, IL - d. 1923 Montgomery Cy., IL) & Mary Bell Page Lipe (b. 1860 IL - d. 1901 Montgomery Cy., IL).
Wayne's mother, Mira, was the daughter of William G. Compton (b. 1864 Nokomis, Montgomery, IL - d. 1944 Hillsboro, Montgomery, IL) & Eliza Jane McCurdy Compton (b. 1869 Conshohocken, Montgomery, IL - d. 1923 Montgomery Cy., IL).
In 1930, the family was living in Roundtree, Madison, Illinois where his father was self-employed as a grain farmer. By 1940, Wayne was residing in Granite City, Madison, Illinois where he was employed as a chauffeur. From Dec. 16, 1943 thru Dec. 24, 1944 he served in the U.S. Military. At some juncture, he worked for the railroad where he eventually retired from.
Marriage
His wife was Capitola Dean Neidhardt Lipe (b. 1918 Haileyville, Pittsburg, OK - d. 1997 Alton, Montgomery, IL), daughter of Arthur Mairon Neidhardt (b. 1895 OH - d. 1970 Granite City, Madison, IL) & Margaret A. Crowder Neidhardt (b. 1895 OK - d. 1973 Granite City, Madison, IL). Arthur was employed in 1920 in Haileyville as a railroad car inspector.
In 1963, their son Jerry Leroy Lipe was married in East Alton.
Death
Wayne died on May 3, 1975 in Bethalto, Madison, Illinois, and his wife Capitola succeeded him in 1997 in Alton, Illinois, and was buried in Bethalto.
