History
James Holmes was a farmer, born in Stanton, Gloucestershire, England in 1865, and it is presumed this is where he was introduced to the open brethren. He emigrated with his wife Ethel in 1887 to Bottineau, in North Central North Dakota, and at least by 1904, there was an assembly meeting in his home in Peabody Township. By 1915, he was listed as living in Baltimore in the same county, and at some juncture they moved back to England, where they both lived the rest of their lives in Evesham, no children were born.
