Carbondale is in Osage County, Kansas, and thought to be the "O. Co. C, Kansas" referenced in Nov. 1881 issue of The Barley Cake in the "correspondence" section from an "R.M.", and may be the first Open Brethren (OB) assembly started in Kansas.

"Dear Brother: You ask me about our little meeting. We met for the first time to the praise and glory of our blessed Lord Jesus, on the first Lord's day of this month (Sept. 4). There are three of us meeting together, according to Acts xx. 7. We have secured a "shanty" for that purpose. There are two halls in this town, but we can't get any of them, for they are already occupied. Still it is wonderful how our God leads us. We have a small gospel meeting on THursday evenings; breaking of bread on Lord's day morning at 10:30, and a small believers' meeting at 4 p.m. Need I tell you that we have much need of the pure life giving gospel here? Will the Lord's people pray for us. R.M.
