Howard Arthur Kohrmann, Sr.

Howard Arthur Kohrmann, Sr. was born in 1919 in Hufsmith, Harris, Texas, which is within the Houston metro. His parents were Emil Cornelius Kohrmann (b. 1884 Kohrville, Harris, TX - d. 1943 Houston, Harris, TX) & Virginia Womack Kohrmann (b. 1889 Gillespie Co., TX - d. 1938 Waco, McLennan, TX).
Howard's paternal grandfather, Paulinus "Paul" Kohrmann was born in 1835 in what was formerly Alsace-Lorraine, Germany (now Alsace-Moselle, France). He served as the first postmaster (1881-1886) of a town in Harris Co., TX that was founded in the 1860's by freed slaves from Alabama, that was named Kohrville (aka Pilotville) in his honor. Paul died in 1894 in Tomball, Harris, TX.
In 1942, Howard married Mollie Marie Willis (b. 1920 Fields Store, Waller, TX - d. 2003 Waco, McLennan, TX), daughter of George Robert Willis (b. 1888 Weimar / Osage, Colorado, TX - d. 1964 Houston, Harris, TX) & Flossie Earl Smith Willis (b. 1898 Dyer Co., TN - d. 1973 Houston, Harris, TX). In 1948, he planted an assembly in Houston in his home that became Melrose Bible Chapel.
He was full-time in the Lord's work, commended by Waco Bible Chapel and Colonial Hills Bible Chapel in Houston, Texas. He served on the board of directors for Sandy Creek Bible Camp for over 50 years, as well as a chaplain of the North Waco Association in prison ministry, in gospel literature distribution, pastoral visitation, and was in active fellowship in his later years at Waco Bible Chapel.
From 1972-1977, he served as the correspondent at Fort Collins Bible Chapel in Colorado, then from 1984-1998 at Waco Bible Chapel. He went to be with the Lord on June 27, 1998 in Waco, McLennan, Texas, leaving his wife, two daughters, three sons and sixteen grandchildren.
