Joseph Alma Hollister was born around 1848 in PA, to David Sprague Hollister (1808-1851) and Mary Ann Wilson Hollister (1813-1881).

In 1880 Joseph was living with his family at 410 Judson St., Fort Scott, KS where the Exclusive Assembly address book lists him as a Shoemaker, and the 1880 Census lists him as a RR Yard Master.

Marriage

Joseph married Susannah Estella Wilbur in 1869, born March 7, 1850 in Putnam, Ohio. She was the daughter of Clark (1819-1892) & Eleanor McElhaney Wilbur (1822-1852). Clark's gravestone credits him as being part of an "Early Zanesville Pottery Family". Susannah died April 26, 1926 in Manhattan, NY.

Joseph served in the Civil War with Co. A. 142 Ohio.

  • Almon Thomas Hollister (1872-1909) died in a R.R. accident in Montana.
  • Ella Amelia Hollister Boggs (1875-1948)
  • Clark Wilbur Hollister (1881-1949)
  • Myrtle Bell Hollister Serri (1884-1920) had infant son Serri that also died in 1920.

Death

Joseph died in 1919 in Boston, MA.
