The fourth issue (April) of the first year (1881) of The Barley Cake (published in Chicago by Donald Ross) references the following in its "Work and Workers" section:

Nebraska, U.S.: "There is one small meeting in this immense State, gathered to the name of the Lord. They request prayer for blessing, etc. One them says: 'This is the only meeting I know of in this region. I trust the Lord will send laborers into Kansas, that there may be a people to bear fruit to His glory. It was at Valparaiso, Ind., that the Lord opened my eyes. Bro. Campbell, of Belfast, was the instrument in pointing to me to Christ. Pray for us."

It is thought that this is the assembly referenced in the fourth issue of the first year of The Barley Cake due to Charles Alexander Leonard's birth in Indiana.

Leonard also officiated a wedding in 1902 for William A. Bradford & Mary Ann Will @ Omaha as "Minister of the Gospel in the "Brethren" Church, Ponca, NE, which is for certain the earliest year of this assembly.
