1920's

• OR: 1928-7: Detroit, Mich.: "Meetings in Central Gospel Hall go on with continued interest. Mr. J. Ferguson took a couple of meetings early in June. At the West Chicago Blvd. Hall, meetings have been very good also. They have had help from Brn. Dr. Cameron, Dr. Jeffery, F.W. Schwartz, R. Curry and others. It is hoped in July to pitch the tent near the hall, and Br. L. Sheldrake is expected to work it."

1930's

• OR 1930-4: Detroit, Mich.: "Brethren Bradford and Sheldrake continue the special meetings in Central Hall. The Word of God has been blessed to souls but we long and pray for greater blessing still. Mr. J.M. Bernard of Cardiff, Wales, had two weeks of well attended meetings in the West Chicago Blvd. Hall."

• OR 1931-7: Detroit, Mich.: "We have been cheered and edified by visits from the Lord's servants. Brethren Charles Keller and Gordon Reager preached the Gospel in West Chicago Blvd. Hall, and Benjamin Bradford in Ferndale. Mr. H. Hitchman ministered in the different assemblies on the "Principles of Gathering." Leonard Gammon's interesting reports on the Lord's work in Angola were much appreciated by the Lord's people here. Our Brethren Cesare Patrizio and Louis Rosania have arrived to operate the Detroit tent in the Italian district this summer. Just as we go to press we learn that Mr. B. Bradford has been called home on account of the serious illness of one of his daughters, an operation seeming to be imperative. Children of God will no doubt make this a matter of importunate prayer."

• Witness 1932-12: Detroit: "J. Bernard is holding forth the Word of Life in West Chicago Blvd. Hall with blessing."

• OR 1933-4: Houston, Texas: "F.W. Schwartz of Detroit writes from here of meetings he and Brother Hunt of California had. They were encouraged by blessing given them. In his letter he mentions that Brethren Foster and Stewart are having some encouragement in West Chicago Bould. Hall, Detroit."

• AA 1934-1: "Reports from the Thanksgiving Conferences were uniformly good. At Richmond, Va. about forty young Christians from different parts were present, the fruit of the summer's tent work. Large and edifying Conventions were held in Bryn Mawr, Pa.; Westerly, R.I.; Lawrenceville, Mass.; Waterbury, Conn.; Chicago, Ill.; Cleveland, O.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Detroit, Mich. (West Chicago Blvd., and East Side). The Quarterly United Teacher's Meeting held in East Side Gospel Hall was a profitable season."

• AA 1934-1: Detroit: "George Shivas and James McMullen gave us much appreciated visits at Central. Mr. Shivas also ministered at East Side and West Chicago Boulevard."

• AA 1934-4: Detroit: "Wm. Warke and James Smith had five weeks of encouraging meetings in West Chicago Blvd., Hall at which several professed. The series in the West Side Hall conducted by Thomas Dobbin and Archie Stewart was a time of hard and faithful plodding. The district was well visited with tracts and invitations but the many promises were not fulfilled so that attendance and interest was small. Wm. Ferguson is now preaching in Ferndale using a chart illustrating the Feasts of Jehovah. Mr. M.L. Hoffman from Jugoslavia visited four of the assemblies in this district and rehearsed some of the Lord's doings in that land. We hope later to give in Annals a few of the striking experiences in his labors for Christ among the Serbs and Slavs of that country."

• TBM 1936-1: "Assembly at 7315 West Chicago Blvd., Detroit, have had appreciated visits from W.H. Hunter, A.R. Crocker, J. Spreeman and L. Sheldrake. Annual Meetings on thanksgiving day much enjoyed, and helpful time. A. Stewart, W. Warke, T. Dobbin and others ministered."

• AA 1936-12: Detroit: "We had visits from Mr. Monypenny, Mr. L. Sheldrake, and Mr. Fred Nugent who ministered at Central Hall. Mr. S. McCune gave reports of the Lord's work in the West Indies in Central and East Side Halls and Mr. Henry Fletcher in West Chicago Blvd. Hall told of the gospel trophies in Puerto Rico. These two brethren are now on their way back to their spheres of labor. The West Chicago Blvd. assembly had also visits from Messrs. Robert McCrory, Murdo McKenzie, and Alexander Livingstone, ministering especially to Christians."

• AA 1938-3: Michigan: "The Assemblies in Detroit district have been very busily engaged in the Lord's work for some time past. Special meetings were held in West Chicago Blvd. Hall conducted by Mr. Forbes McLeod; in the East Side Hall by Mr. John Govan; in Ferndale by Mr. Wm. Ferguson; in Windsor by Messrs. George Gould Sr. and Arch. T. Stewart. The Italian Assembly has purchased a building which after remodeling, will prove a very suitable hall in the midst of the Italian colony. Besides the regular meetings in Central we have had special ministry addresses Sunday afternoons from Mr. Forbes McLeod. Mr. J. Duthie from China visited us also and told of the Lord's work."

1940's

• AA 1941-12: Michigan: "After the Detroit Conference special series were carried on in Ferndale by brethren McBain and Dobson, in East Side Hall by Fred Nugent, in West Chicago Boulevard Hall by Warke and Grierson, in Central and Schoolcraft Halls by John Conaway, and in the Italian Hall by Frank Carboni. Good attendances for the most part marked these efforts. Mr. Edward Harlow from Belgian Congo gave in Central Hall a very interesting and encouraging account of the Lord's work in that Colony."

• AA 1945-12: Detroit: Alexander Stewart: "We had a good and profitable time at the conference held in the West Chicago Gospel Hall, Detroit. The attendance was large and 13 of the Lord's servants were present and most of them shared in the ministry of the Word."

• LOI 1946-2: Wm. Robertson of Philadelphia, PA: "I left home first to go to a conference in the West Chicago Blvd. Hall in Detroit, Michigan at Thanksgiving time, and took part in the ministry of the Word twice. I remained for a week and spoke one night in the above mentioned hall and one night in the Central hall.

I came on to the Avondale hall in Chicago and had two meetings during the week and spoke twice on the Lord's day. I had a meeting on Friday night in the 86th Street hall, then on Lord's day spoke in the gospel and was asked to speak again on the following Tuesday night to the Lord's people.

I went to Columbus, Ohio, for a week and enjoyed speaking to the few Christians who gather in the Lord's Name in a home. They are seldom visited and so they really appreciate anyone dropping in to help them from the Scriptures. I then went on to Pittsburg, and spoke at the Thursday night meeting and remained for the Lord's day."

• LOI 1946-10: T.A. Hay of Toledo, OH: "Bro. Hay was with the West Chicago Blvd. assembly, Detroit, Michigan, for ministry meetings the first week in September. About the end of the month he hopes to visit Chicago, probably spending a few nights in 86th Street and Avondale."

• LOI 1946-12 / AA 1946-11: Detroit, Mich., West Chicago Gospel Hall: Alexander Stewart: "The assembly meeting here at West Chicago Blvd. has enjoyed recent visits from brethren T.A. Hay, formerly of Formosa; Sidney Saword of Venezuela; J.E. Fairfield of Venezuela; T.E. Wilson of Angola, Africa; and James McCullough of Bridgeport, Conn. Visitors to this assembly will kindly bring letters of commendation."

• LOI 1947-1: Sam Hamilton of LaCrosse, WI: "Bro. Hamilton, after attending the West Chicago Blvd. Conference in Detroit, intended starting some meetings in Duluth, Minn."

• LOI 1947-1: Robert McCrory of Hamilton, ON: "Bro. McCrory spent a happy week during November with the saints in Central Gospel Hall, Detroit, and helped minister in the West Chicago Blvd. Conference on Nov. 23-24. The conference was a time of happy, helpful ministry and fellowship."

• LOI 1947-1: James McCullough of Bridgeport, CT: "Bre. McCullough and T.E. Wilson of Africa have been in Chicago Blvd. Hall, Detroit, for about four weeks and there has been a nice interest. Good numbers were coming every night and both seemed to have help from God in telling out the gospel. One young woman professed faith in Christ. Bro. Wilson had to leave on account of other engagements but brother F. Watson consented to take up where he left off so they go on looking to the Lord for further blessing."

• AA 1947-1: Michigan: Sowing, Reaping: "Bre. J. McCullough and T.E. Wilson had four weeks of well attended Gospel Meetings in West Chicago Gospel Hall. The brethren are looking for God to bless the seed sown."

• AA 1947-1: Detroit: Communications: "Our Conference held on Nov. 23-24 in West Chicago Gospel Hall was well attended and considered good with ministry varied and profitable. The following ministering brethren were present and most of them took part: F.G. Watson, R. McCrory, G. Duncan, A. Douglas, J. McCullough, H. Fletcher, W. Ferguson, T.E. Wilson, A. Klabunda, F.W. Schwartz, H. Dobson, A. Stewart, S. Hamilton, J. Adams, C. Patrizio."

• L&L 1947-4: Robert A. Crawford, 401 Elderslee Rd., R.F.D. 11, Pittsburgh 27, PA, Mar. 1:

"Was with George Gould for five weeks gospel meetings at Niagara Falls. In spite of adverse weather conditions, attendance was good, but results in conversions were lacking. Had the privilege of being at the opening for the Home for Aged in Longport, New Jersey, last weekend. Will begin a series of gospel meetings in W. Chicago Blvd. Hall, Detroit, tomorrow."

• LOI 1947-5: Detroit, MI: Feb. 1947: "As a result of much exercise, we are pleased to announce, and desire it to be known generally, that fellowship between the Christians gathered to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ at Salem Gospel Hall, Detroit, and West Chicago Gospel Hall, Detroit, has been restored. This is cause for much thanksgiving and praise to our God and prayer that it may redound to the glory of God. (Ps. 133:1).

• LOI 1947-5: George Gould of St. Catherines, ON & Robert Crawford of Pittsburgh, PA: "These brethren were in their fourth week of meetings (Mar. 25th) in West Chicago Boulevard, Detroit. Some had professed to be saved, one a young married man, an ex-soldier, who had been raised in Central Hall Sunday School. They hoped to see others saved before the meetings closed."

• LOI 1947-6: George Gould of St. Catherines, ON & Robert Crawford of Pittsburgh, PA: "These two laborers saw blessing in five weeks of meetings in West Chicago Blvd. Gospel Hall, Detroit, Michigan. Several professed to be saved during the meetings, and we understand some of those who were still troubled when the meetings closed were saved at the all day meeting held in Schoolcraft Gospel Hall, April 12th. Prayer is requested for some children of the Lord's people, who are still unsaved."

• LOI 1947-6: Tom McCullagh of Springfield, MO & Leonard Lindsted of Goessel, KS: "These brethren saw a rich ingathering of precious souls during six weeks of Gospel meetings in Schoolcraft, Detroit. Over twenty professed to be saved, most of them being young men. Before the meetings were over some of the young men saved in the early part of the meetings were regularly at the prayer meetings, praying earnestly that others might be saved. The meetings closed with an all day meeting Saturday, April 12th in the Schoolcraft Hall, and a number of the Lord's servants were present and shared the ministry. Some of the young converts gave their testimony at this meeting and several more professed to be saved."

• LOI 1948-11: Robert McClurkin, Galt, ON & Tom Wilke, Forest, ON: "A Gospel effort was to begin by these brethren, about the middle of October, in the West Chicago Blvd. Gospel Hall, Detroit, Mich. Prior to these meetings, brother McClurkin had several weeks ministry meetings in Addison Rd. Gospel Hall, Cleveland. He spoke on assembly truths and the Exalted Lord in the Midst of His Own. The ministry was profitable and enjoyed by the Christians."

• LOI 1948-11: Ernest Woodhouse, Hamilton, Ontario: "Since returning to Detroit it has been a privilege to join in testimony with some 8 or 9 of the assemblies in this city... and to take part in the Central Hall Conference held a few days ago in Ionic Temple. During these various meetings several young people have professed conversion, I was very happy to be able to take part in the baptismal service at West Chicago Blvd., where one of them obeyed the Lord in this way. A fine young man, student at Wayne University, confessed the Lord during a midday meeting in the city.

A visit to Kenilworth, N.J. proved very happy, I was so glad of the opportunity of returning to this scene of former blessing. In Rochester, N.Y. I shared a few meetings with Mr. H.H. Stewart who is on his way back to England. Prayer is asked for guidance in arrangements for a short visit to the West coast with Mr. John Newton, also for wisdom in planning for a special effort in London, Ontario. Ed. Note: Brother Woodhouse has served the Lord, for some years, among the Assemblies in the British Isles."

• LOI 1948-12: Tom Wilkie, Forest, ON & R. McClurkin, Galt, ON: "These brethren began a series of Gospel meetings in the West Chicago Blvd., Detroit Gospel Hall on the 17th of October. When last we heard the attendance was very good, but none had been saved. Prior to these meetings brethren Wilkie and Gunn had good meetings in the Canadian Soo, four professed to be saved."

• AA 1948-12: Detroit: "The conference held recently in the West Chicago Blvd. Gospel Hall was a time of refreshing. Fourteen of the Lord's servants were helped of the Lord in giving ministry that was for edification, comfort and exhortation."

• LOI 1949-1: West Chicago Gospel Hall, Detroit: Alexander Stewart: "The conference held here the weekend before Thanksgiving Day was a refreshment from the Lord's presence. Ministry of a varied character was to edification, comfort and exhortation. Fourteen of the Lord's servants were with us and most of them took part. Bre. T. Wilkie and R. McClurkin have just closed six weeks of gospel meetings, which were well attended and the Word was in power. We look to God to bless the word spoken in salvation."

• LOI 1949-6: Alexander Philip, Scotland: "Brother Philip has been ministering the Word to believers in West Chicago Blvd., and other assemblies in Detroit, since his entry into the States, early in April. He intends visiting Chicago about the middle of May, and hopes to have meetings in Laflin St., Eighty-Sixth St., and other halls."

• AA 1949-3: Detroit: "William Ferguson had three weeks of helpful meetings in West Chicago Blvd. Hall. He spoke on the Book of Daniel using a large chart."

• L&L 1949-12: Detroit, Mich.: "O.E. Magee had an appreciated series of meetings in Central Hall here. Neil Frazer is now at Midland Ave. McBain and Crawford are at Schoolcraft having Gospel meetings. David Leatham had a few meetings at West Chicago Blvd. F.W. Schwartz has been helping here and there locally for a couple of weeks, and commencing 13th he expects to be in Galt, Ont."

1950's

• T&T 1950-3: Detroit: "D. Leathem had a week's well attended meetings in the West Chicago Hall. Lorne E. McBaine and N. Crawford are expected for Gospel meetings the middle of February. The correspondent requests that visitors from other assemblies bring letters of commendation. (This is a scriptural and necessary custom which it would be well to emphasize everywhere.)"

• T&T 1950-6: Detroit: "L.E. McBain and N. Crawford were in the West Chicago Gospel Hall for seven weeks with good attendance and fruit in the salvation of souls."

• AA 1950-7: Detroit: "Word has reached us of the departure of our brother U.C. Rigoulot, for many years in Central and later in the Schoolcraft Assembly; and also the tragic death by automobile accident of Mr. and Mrs. Mooney of the West Chicago Assembly. We may have more information for our readers later."

• LOI 1950-11: Hector Alves, Vancouver, B.C. & Herbert Y. Dobson, Chicago, Ill.: "These brethren contemplate starting a series of gospel meetings, D.V. in Cliff Street, Boston, Mass., on Sunday, November 5. Brother Alves has been in the central states for some weeks and has meetings in Garnavillo, Iowa, and 86th Street, Chicago. He also hopes to spend a week or so in West Chicago Blvd., Detroit, and Addison Road, Cleveland, Ohio, before going on to Boston. His ministry to the Lord's people and in the gospel was in freshness and power."

• LOI 1950-11: Detroit, Michigan, West Chicago Gospel Hall: "The annual conference will be held (D.V.) on Nov. 18 and 19. Meetings at 10:00 a.m., 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., preceded by a prayer meeting Friday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. All meetings in the Gospel Hall, 7345 West Chicago Blvd. Those desiring further information may write to Alexander Stewart, 9320 Burnette, Detroit 4, Michigan."

• LOI 1951-11: Herbert G. Dobson, Chicago, Ill. & James Lipke, Cleveland, OH: "The assembly at West Chicago Boulevard, Detroit, was looking forward to a series of gospel meetings held by these two brethren starting September 30."

• LOI 1952-1: Herbert G. Dobson, Chicago, Ill. & James Lipke, Cleveland, OH: "The six weeks of gospel meetings by these brethren in the West Chicago Blvd. Hall in Detroit resulted in blessing. Five professed to be saved, and the saints were encouraged and strengthened in their faith. The first young man to profess had gone through quite an experience for more than a year. He had given up a false profession and was in deep soul trouble. On one occasion he gave up his job in Detroit to go to a city where gospel meetings were being held, hoping to get saved. He was saved soon after these meetings started and is now a bright example, giving joy to the Christians."

• WIS 1952-1: Detroit, Mich.: "Recent Conference of West Chicago Gospel Hall was a time of cheer and blessing. The Word was ministered through the Lord's servants whom He was pleased to send along to the building up, comforting and encouraging of His own. There were many visitors and many spoke of receiving help from the ministry. Bre. Dobson and Lipke had six weeks Gospel Meetings, preceding the Conference and the Lord graciously reached a few souls and the saints were cheered."

• LOI 1952-3: Mrs. James Lipke, Cleveland, OH: "In order to regain strength after a month of nervous exhaustion, our sister was to go to a health school outside the city on her doctor's recommendation. This has kept our brother at home since his return from Detroit where he saw blessing in West Chicago Blvd. in meetings with Brother Dobson. The prayers of the Lord's people are asked for our sister."

• LOI 1952-3: William Ferguson, Detroit, Mich.: "About the first of February, Brother Ferguson began some meetings for believers in the West Chicago Blvd. Hall, Detroit, using his chart on the Tabernacle."

1960's

• LOI 1960-4: John Govan, Detroit, Mich.: Brethren Geo. Graham and Walter Gustafson have just closed a series of gospel meetings in the West Chicago Blvd. Hall, Detroit. The gospel was faithfully preached nightly, but weather and sickness hindered attendance. It is our responsibility to water still the seed that was sown and look to God for the increase."

• WIS 1960-4: Detroit: "Bre. Graham and Gustafson had meetings in West Chicago Hall here recently, some unsaved coming but no move to date."

• WIS 1960-10: Detroit: "Saints of West Chicago Assembly had a week of ministry by S. Maxwell, ministry timely."

• WIS 1961-1: Detroit: "Recent West Chicago Conference reported good attendance and helpful ministry. A good many visitors present. Fourteen of those in the Lord's work present."

• WIS 1961-4: Detroit: "Saints of West Chicago Assembly here have enjoyed short visits recently from Brethren Fairfield and McKelvey, also W. Warke, D. Calderhead, A. Klabunda and G. Baldwin. Ministry appreciated."

• LOI 1962-12: "Albert Joyce and Frank Percey had a series of meetings at West Chicago Boulevard, Detroit. There also a number professed faith."

• WIS 1964-4: Detroit: "Bre. Maxwell and E. McCullough had a spell of Gospel meetings in West Chicago Hall."

• WIS 1964-9: Detroit: "Because of the possibility of the West Chicago Assembly moving to another location and building a Gospel Hall there, it has been deemed advisable not to have the usual Conference in November this year. Corresp. Alexander Stewart..."

• WIS 1964-11: Detroit: "Our brethren of West Chicago Assembly here have requested to make note that, owing to purposed change of location of the Gospel Hall, they will NOT have their usual conference this year. They expect, D.V. to build in the new location."

• WIS 1965-4: Detroit, Mich.: "Saints of West Chicago Hall are exercised about their change, made necessary through circumstances. They have a nice location for a new Hall when their present Hall is sold. Bro. Ferguson had a visit with them recently one weekend. He also visited the Ferndale Gospel Hall and found a good response to the Word. Bro. Warke has been hindered in work of late, result of infection."

• WIS 1965-11: Detroit, Mich.: The Christians of West Chicago Gospel Hall will NOT have their usual Conference this November. They are working hard on their new building in Livonia, a suburb, and are presently in a temporary location."

• AA 1965-12: Detroit, Mich.: "Bro. Currie from Japan, and bro. McVey from Malaysia had interesting meetings in teh Detroit area speaking in the Stark St. (formerly West Chicago), Ferndale and Schoolcraft assemblies. Mr. McVey also visited in Sault Ste.
