WiS 1961-10: F.A.: " In a tragic auto accident August 25th, our dear brother and sister Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bethke were suddenly ushered into the Lord’s presence. A young man and young girl in the other car were also killed. They were both saved in 1949 at meetings here of brethren Oliver Smith and Paul Elliott. A humble and unassuming couple they will be greatly missed."

Garner family

WiS 1942-7: On May 14, Mrs. Martha Garner went to be with Christ. Age 78. Saved ten years ago at meetings held by Bren. S. Mick and C. Summers and in the Blue River assembly from its beginning. S. Mick spoke at the services." Martha may have also been the owner of a shop rented in 1932 where these meetings were held.

  • Andrew Jackson Garner (b. 1845 OH - d. 1928 WI), son of Edom Garner (1814-1885) & Rebecca Langley Garner (1820-1909). In 1920, Andrew & Martha resided in Strawberry Twp., Lawrence, AR.
  • Martha Jane Givens Endicott-Garner 1932-1942 (b. 1863 Marietta, Washington, OH - d. 1942 BR, WI), daughter of David Sampson Givens (b. 1837 Washington Twp., Belmont, OH - d. 1917 Port Andrew, Richland, WI) & Rachel S. Waller Givens (b. 1839 Bethel Twp., Monroe, OH - d. 1879 Stafford, Monroe, OH). 1st husband: James Orlando Endicott (b. 1860 Howard Co., IN - d. 1897 Richland Co., WI).
    • Elsie Cora Endicott Elliott (b. 1881 WI - d. 1958 WI). Husband: Corliss Monroe Elliott (b. 1879 Richland Co., WI - d. 1959 BR, WI), son of Chauncey Warren Elliott & Lydia Jane Dewey Elliott.

Mick family

Among the founders of this assembly, Steve was a resident worker with a very active itinerant ministry throughout. Norman Crawford and Harold Paisley officiated his memorial. Pallbearers included Archie & David Nowak, James & Clifford Frazier, John Draves & Glen Harms.

  • Stephen "Steve" Mick 1932-1979 (b. 1891 Șeitin, Arad, Romania - d. 1979 Boscobel, WI), son of Peter Mick & Milita Ungurean Mick. In 1917, he resided in Akron, and in 1931 in Chicago. In 1917, he worked for B.F. Goodrich. In 1910, he resided in Harrisburg, PA and worked in a silk mill. The area of Romania that he was raised was previously part of Hungary, then Hungary-Austria, now Romania. He emigrated in 1906, at the age of 15.
  • Agnes Blanche Boyce Mick 1932-1979+ (b. 1901 Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, Scotland; m. 1929 Chicago, IL; d. 1992 Middleton, Dane, WI)
    • Elizabeth Ann Mick Dill 1933-1951+ (b. 1933 Boscobel, WI - d. 2018 Oconomowoc, Waukesha, WI). Husband: Lyle Elmer Dill (b. 1927 Richland Center, Richland, WI - d. 1977 Waukesha, WI), son of Dr. Joseph Truman Dill (b. 1897 Denver, Newaygo, MI - d. 1937 Richland Center, WI) & Lelia Richardson Dill (b. 1898 Eagle, Richland, WI - d. 1958 Richland Center, WI). Joseph owned Dill Machine shop in Richland Center, died of pneumonia at the age of 40. Lyle was employed at the Godfrey Co., as a warehouseman, and also as a schoolteacher at Brandybrook School and Lakeside Elementary.
    • Eunice Mick Bethke. Husband: Louis "Louie" Henry Bethke (b. 1926 Seymour, Outagamie, WI - d. 2017 Madison, Dane, WI), son of Henry George Bethke (1893-1961) & Selma Bloedow Bethke (1898-1961). Louie trusted Christ on Nov. 9th, 1949 while in college and served 40 years in education, including as a elementary schoolteacher, principal, school district admin, and CESA admin. See Bethke family.
    • Helen Mick Bell. 1979 @ Anaheim, CA. Husband: Dr. John Philip Bell. In 1963, Dr. Bell was resident physician at the Los Angeles County Hospital, and Helen as a schoolteacher at Badger School in Madison. They married at her home in Boscobel, Louis Brandt officiated. They spent their first few married years in San Gabriel, CA and by 1979 in Anaheim.
    • Robert S. Mick (b. 1942 Bosc., WI). Wife (1968 @ Cedar Rapids, IA): Evelyn Trecek Mick, daughter of Edward Trecek (b. 1923 BR, WI - d. 2019 Waukesha, WI) & Barbara Trecek (m. 1945). As per his obit, Edward's parents emigrated from Czechoslovakia in 1911 on account of Christian persecution. Bibles were being burned, so Edward's mother hid hers in a loaf of bread. Edward & Barbara celebrated their 73rd anniversary in 2018. Edward trusted Christ in his early 20's, his gravestone reads "God called me home to Heaven", raised at Blue River Valley Church. Edward was a Army veteran of WWII. Evelyn attended Calvary Bible College, and Robert at the University of Wisconsin. In 1968, Robert was teaching at Waukesha High School (now three schools). 1979 @ Waukesha, WI.

Schwingel family

  • Roy Irvin Schwingel (b. 1900 - d. 1980 Madison, WI). Roy was employed by the Schmitt Bros. Cheese Co., as a butterfat tester, then with Borden's Co., retiring in 1962. He was in that industry 1922-1962. World War One veteran.
  • 1st wife (1948): Nellie Permelia Dingman Schwingel (b. 1913 Richland Co., WI - d. 2003 Grant Co., WI).
  • 2nd wife: Rose Irene Meade Schwingel +1994 (b. 1903 Spring Green, WI - d. 1994 BR, WI), daughter of James Meade & Mary Jones Meade.

Studnicka family

WiS 1940-7: Fallen Asleep (F.A.): Muscoda, WI: "On May 20, Mrs. Lucy Studnicka (widow of John Studnicka) passed into the presence of the Lord while visiting her daughter in Iowa. Saved 9 years ago and in happy fellowship in the Blue River Assembly. Oliver Smith spoke to a large crowd at the services."

WiS 1956-6: F.A.: "Our dear brother, well known in this district. William Studnicka, “went home” after a lingering sickness April 12th, aged 55. He was saved in the first Gospel effort when bro. Steve Mick, with others, went there, and was in the Assembly from its commencement, acting as correspondent. A constant tract distributor and given to hospitality. Will be much missed by many. Had the joy of seeing one of his sons saved shortly before his homecall."

Zimlicka family

WiS 1963-1: "Our beloved sister Mrs. Anna Zimlicka "went home" July 24, aged 90. Saved at first tent meetings held here by brethren Summers and Mick in 1932. She bore a good testimony, a succourer of many, and we can say "myself also". Loved by all who knew her, truly "a great woman"."

  • Albert F. Zemlicka (b. 1867 Castle Rock, Grant, WI - d. 1920 Watterstown Twp., Grant, WI), son of Joseph Zemlicka (b. 1825 Czech. - d. 1900 Castle Rock, WI) & Emilige "Anna" Burrion Zemlicka (b. 1825 Tábor, Czechoslovakia; emig. 1868; d. 1907 Montfort, Grant/Iowa, WI)
  • Anna Salava Zemlicka 1932-1963? (b. 1871 Czechoslovakia - d. 1962 Madison, WI), daughter of Josef Salava (b. 1839 Janovice, Czech Republic - d. 1915 Muscoda, Grant, WI) & Anezka "Anna" / "Agnes" Adam Salava (b. 1839 Jihlavka, Moravia - d. 1924 BR, WI).
    • Marie "Mamie" Lucille Zemlicka 1932?-1950+; +1996-2004 (b. 1909 Grant Co., WI - d. 2004 Muscoda, WI). She worked 40 years for Kramer Printing in Madison. She may have been in fellowship at Blue River and Black Earth Gospel Hall.
      • Lida Sale - foster daughter. Husband: Melvin Sale.
    • Clara Anna Zemlicka (b. 1890 Castle Rock, WI - d. 1930 BR, WI). As per her obit, Clara was a "sincere Christian" and "a faithful member of the John Hus M.E. Church of Chicago (now the Greater St. Paul AME of North Lawndale).
    • Frank Joseph Zemlicka (b. 1893 Castle Rock, WI - d. 1945 BR, WI). Wife: Rose M. Kviz Zemlicka (b. 1897 Chicago, IL - d. 1990 Muscoda, WI), daughter of Vencil Kviz (1862-1948) & Francis Prohaska Kviz (1865-1925).
      • Anna Emily Zemlicka Studnicka (b. 1899 WI - d. 1996 Boscobel, WI). Husband: Charles Studnicka Sr. (b. 1898 Muscoda, WI - d. 1979 Richland Center, WI), son of John V.
