Stephenson family
In 1861, Richard Stephenson had no religion, and his wife Sarah was Wesleyan Methodist, residing in Aurora, Toronto, ON. Richard died when his son Albert was a baby, leaving his widow with eight children to raise. Albert was commended to full-time preaching from 97th St. Sarah's parents emigrated to Canada from St. Chad's, Rochdale, Lancashire, England to Albion Twp., Peel, Ontario in 1819. Her parents, William Roadhouse and his wife Sarah Cass Roadhouse were integral in the installation of a Methodist church in 1830 near their home, referenced as the Roadhouse appointment in The First Century of Methodism in Canada.

- Hugh Fleming emigrated to Toronto in 1908, employed in grocery. Then relocated to Calgary and was a grocery manager for a company owned by J.T. MacDonald. Then he founded the Calgary Wholesale and Commission Company on Centre Street, partnered with A.E. Dunn. In 1919, Hugh co-founded a grocery chain with James Allan known as the Banner Grocery Stores, then forming a union known as "Associated Grocers, Ltd."
