Collard family

As per his obit on FB, Richard "was known for singing hymns with gusto at full volume and for his love of the Bible and his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ." He graduated from Cass Technical High School in 1947. As a teeanger, he worked in produce at Schmidt's Market, delivered the Detroit News, and ran a "newspaper station". He retired at 89 after managing aircraft departments for several companies, including Detroit Aircraft Supply, Van Dusen, Q Air Parts, Royal Air and Michigan Aviation. He coached youth sports teams in the Waterford area for decades, and served as the athletic director for the Waterford Village school. He founded the Waterford Girls Fastpitch league, and the Oakland Merchants Girls Fastpitch organization. He worked/volunteered for over 30 years at Waterford Parks & Rec. In 2002, he was inducted into the Waterford Township Hall of Honor, and the American Softball Association Metro-Detroit Hall of Fame in 2006.
