Ferguson family

In 1921, Melvin & Reata Lodge McCavour roomed with Leslie & Vera Ferguson, all in fellowship with the assembly. It would appear as though William Wilson & his first wife Alice were the first in the family connected with the PB, in 1911 (as per their marriage license) and Alice's sibings Leslie & George followed by 1921, as did their parents, although censuses indicate that Alice was registered as Presbyterian in 1911.

    • James "Leslie" Ferguson +1921-1962+ (1890-1965 Lorneville, NB), son of . In 1891, James was employed as a shoe merchant in Chatham. James & Mary emigrated to the U.S. in 1893, settling by 1900 i n Haverhill, Essex, MA. In 1931, Leslie was self-employed as a fisherman, with his own boat, in Lorneville. He was raised Presbyterian, but had joined the PB between 1912-1921. Wife: Rachel "Vera" McCavour Ferguson +1921-1931+ (1893-1970 Lorneville, NB), daughter of James McCavour & Rachel Galbraith McCavour.

Wife (1926): Audrey Mabel Stockford Ferguson (b. 1907 Saint John, NB), daughter of Simon Johnston Stockford (1867-1953) & Carrie May Reed Stockford (b. 1870 Gardner Creek, St. John, NB - d. 1961 St. John, NB). At the time of their wedding in 1926, George was PB & Audrey was Baptist, although raised DoC (Douglas Ave. Christian Church). It was officiated by a DoC pastor, Henry Mahon, and witnessed by Clarence Stockford of St. John, and Mrs. Harry Totten of Providence, R.I.. George was employed as a fisherman, like his brother Leslie, in 1931. That year, his wife Audrey had remained Baptist, as had their children.

Florinda was a longtime member of St. Mark's United. Clarence was a longtime employee of the Canadian National Railways in St. John, and Florinda worked for the T. Eaton Co., Moncton, as well as a national bank. They were married at the Wesley Memorial United in Moncton.

Jacob "Norman" Janzen (b. 1917 Mennonite community, Ukraine - d. 2012 West Vancouver, BC). In 1945, Capt. Janzen was with the Canadian Dental Corps. Their wedding was officiated by Rev. Dr. E.H. Ramsay of Elliott Row, NB. Norman was active with the Alta Vista Baptist in Burnaby, BC.

Galbraith family

Thomas Henry Galbraith +1903-1933+ (1857-1939) was Presbyterian in 1901, as was his 2nd cousin Herbert John Galbraith +1908-1962 (1880-1962), but both were evidently PB just a handful of years later. Thomas and Herbert's father Henry shared the same grandfather. Further, Thomas' eldest daughter Laura Jane Galbraith (1882-1956) married aforementioned Herbert (also second cousins).

In 1921, Herbert's father Henry resided with him, still Presbyterian, Henry's 2nd wife was Mary Ann Dalzell Galbraith.

Husband (1952): Charles Seeley Williams (b. 1890 Randolph, St. John, NB - d. 1960 St. John, NB), son of Benjamin Williams & Jane Brown Williams. In 1919, Charles was Baptist.
          • Allison Herbert Galbraith +1911-1931+ (b. 1907 Lorneville, NB - d. 1979 St. John, NB). Wife (1930): Olive "Ollie" Daisy Clancey Galbraith-McLaughlin +1930-1931+ (b. 1911 Campbellton, Nfld. - d. 1992 St. John, NB), daughter of Alfred Clancy (b. 1883 Exploits, Burnt Island, Nfld. - d. 1960 St. John, NB) & Mary Ann Perry Clancy (b. 1887 Exploits, Nfld. - d. 1927 St. John, NB). Alfred was employed as a carpenter, and a member of the UCC. Allison's wife Ollie had become PB by the time she married Allison. Their wedding was officiated by a Baptist preacher named James Dunlop, witnesses included Henry Lee & Beatrice Galbraith. At the end of her life, Ollie was a member of Rothesay Baptist Church, currently unknown how long Allison stayed in the PB. Her 2nd husband was John D. McLaughlin.
          • Beatrice Viola Galbraith Lee +1911-1930 (b. 1910 Lorneville, NB - d. 1948 West St. John, NB). Husband (1930 @ St. George's CoE, St. John, NB): Henry "Harry" Laban Lee (d. 1993 St. John, NB), son of George Daucet Lee & Sarah Jane "Jennie" Long Lee. Beatrice & Harry were both CoE in 1931. Harry was employed for 43 years as a pressman for the Telegraph Journal. He was a lifelong member of two Anglican churches, St. George's & St. Alban's in Crystal Beach. His 2nd wife was Verna E. Nice Lee of Bayswater. Beatrice was still PB when she married Harry, but became CoE soon afterwards.
          • Rhena Mildred Galbraith Maguire 1912-1998 (1912-1998 Lorneville, NB) spent her entire life in the Lorneville assembly, with exception of when she first married her husband in 1934, where she was UCC with Robert, who was raised Presbyterian. Husband: Robert Russell Maguire (b. 1908 - d. 1984 Lorneville, NB), son of Walter Harris Maguire (b. 1879 St. John, NB - d. 1963 Lancaster, NB) & Sarah Cunningham Maguire (1879-1975).
            • Robert Nelson Maguire (1937-1990 St. John, NB). Memorial tributes at Telegraph-Journal 1991-3-23 & 1994-3-23, and several other years, as well as ones for his father, Robert. Wife (1965 @ Lorneville UCC, NB): Linda L. Wendt Maguire, daughter of Harry Wendt (b. 1903 Sandlefjord, Norway - d. 1982 St. John, NB) & Elsie M. Wilson Maguire (1912-1975 Lorneville, NB). See wedding article. In 1965, Nelson was employed with the Canada Wire & Cable Co. Hazen Galbraith of the Lorneville assembly officiated his memorial. Pallbearers included Dale Maguire, Roger Cartwright, Malcolm Maguire, Jeffrey Maguire, Richard Dickson & Donald St. Pierre. Record number of floral tributes from a variety of businesses, and donations made to over 19 ministries and civic organizations, and a memorial bible received from the International Longshoremen's Assoc.'s local chapter. Wife (1915): Maude Gillespie Galbraith +1915-1962+ (b. 1893 St. John Co., NB - d. 1973 Lorneville, NB), daughter of James Matthew Gillespie (1871-1946) & Eliza Ann Curtis Gillespie (1872-1959). James & Eliza were CoE. Maude was PB by the time of their wedding. Charles was employed to retirement for the CPR grain elevator, including as a foreman.

Wife (1941): Edith Audrey Reid Galbraith +1941-1993 (1919-1993 St. John Co., NB), daughter of Samuel Reid, Jr. (1878-1955) & Margaret "Mildred" Givan Shewbridge-Reid (1880-1971). Samuel resided in Lorneville, well-known and a fisherman, and he wintered in W. St. John where he was employed as a stevedore with the Canadian Pacific Steamships for over 50 years. He & Mildred were UCC.

Wife (1943 @ Montreal, QC): Marjorie Leah Pope Galbraith (b. 1914 Eng. - d. 2000 NB), daughter of Edward Ernest Pope (b. 1886 Eng.; emig. 1920) & Sarah Dilworth Pope (b. 1888 Liverpool, Eng.; m. 1904 Liverpool, Eng.; d. 1963 Beloeil, QC). Marjorie was raised PB in Montreal. Her wedding to Percy was officiated by J. Hoogendam of "The People's Church" of Montreal. The reception was held at the Rosemount PB assembly. Out-of-town guests included Charles Hayhoe and Miss Dorothy McCullough, both of Ottawa. The latter was maid of honor, and Hazen Galbraith was groomsman. Ushers were Howard Martin & William Smeall of Montreal. Robert Kane provided special music.

Wife: Florence Evelyn Galbraith +1988-2007 (b. 1925 St. John West, NB - d. 2007), daughter of Guy Eldon Galbraith (b. 1890 St. John Co., NB - d. 1954 Lorneville, NB) & Annie Evelyn Wilson Galbraith (1898-1988 NB). Annie was a daughter of Edmund & Margaret Wilson, and attended the Lorneville Gospel Hall (OB). Guy was a son of Thomas John Galbraith (b. 1856 NB - d. 1930 Lorneville, NB) & Ann Jane McCavour Galbraith (1859-1929 NB). Thomas was a son of James Galbraith (b. 1831 Ireland - d. 1905 Lorneville, NB). James was a son of Thomas Galbraith (1798-1890) & Helen Austin Galbraith (1802-1856). Thomas was a son of Henry John Murchoch Galbraith (1762-1822 Kilkeel, N.I.) & Mary Louise McKnight Galbraith (b. 1770 Inverary, Scot. - d. 1870 Drumgooland, Co. Down, N.I.), who are also Hazen's G3-grandparents, which made his wife his fourth cousin.

            • Philip Norman Cook (b. 1952 West Chester, Chester, PA - d. 2017 Hammondsport, Steuben, NY). Wife (1982): Marie Yvonne Cook (b. 1956 Hawkesbury, ON - d. 2014 Rochester, Monroe, NY). Philip graduated from high school in Malvern, PA. After relocating in 1993 to New York, he ran a window washing business, and was known as "the bee guy".

  • Harold Earle Lee +1923-1931+ (1900-1976 St. John, NB), son of John Harold Lee (1864-1940 St. John, NB) & Elizabeth "Bessie" Jane Earle Lee (1866-1942 St. John, MB). Harold was a retired locomotive engineer, employed with Canadian Pacific Railways for over 49 years (1916-1965), starting as a railroad fireman. His father, John, was also a locomotive engineer. Harold had an older infant sister Alice Elizabeth Lee that died in 1894.
