Wood family

The Wood family apparently immigrated to Canada just prior to 1815, and were Presbyterian thru 1871.

In 1889, John was the correspondent for the North Elmsley Meeting Room, along with John Ford (who was also the contact thru 1894). Robert Wood was the contact +1878-1894+ for the Lombardy Meeting Room (now Rideau Ferry). In 1881-1911, John & Maria Wood were PB and resided at South Elmsley Twp. (S.E. Twp.), Leeds & Grenville, ON. In 1921, William & Clara Wood resided in Perth, their father John Wood resided with them, all registered PB, so likely with the Perth Meeting Room then.

In 1911, John & Maria (Wills) Wood had a teenage hired hand named Thomas McTegart (b. 1893 Scotland) who was PB, in fellowship at Lombardy.

John & Fannie were CoE thru 1891, and PB by 1901 @ Lombardy. It should be noted that in 1891, both of their live-in staff, Harmon Anderson & Jennie Looby, were PB while John & Fannie were still CoE, and by 1901, John and his wife and children were all PB. No doubt, the fact that John's brother Robert was the earliest correspondent at the Lombardy assembly (which became Rideau Ferry) from +1878-1896+, that likely played a strong role as well. Also in +1901+, Ema J. Wood (b. 1875 ON), PB then, resided with John & Fannie, the census identifies her as a sister-in-law to John... might be a wife of Andrew or James, perhaps widowed at that point.

Husband: Howard Joseph Schwab (1897-1955 Brooklyn, NY), son of Charles Schwab (b. 1855 Germany - d. 1905-1910) & Annie Duryea Schwab (b. 1865 NY - d. 1927 Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY). Charles worked in 1890 as a truck driver, and in 1900 as a bookkeeper. No known relation to the NYC millionaire Charles Michael Schwab, chairman of Bethlehem Steel. Howard worked as an electrician at the Brooklyn Navy Yard on Sand St. from +1917-1950+. In 1917, he resided at 1711 E. 7th St. (parents' home), in 1930 at 1617 E. 7th St., and in 1941 at 404 Linden Blvd.

Susan was a daughter of Ebenezer Bell Scofield (1805-1875), a son of Ezra Scofield (1774-1831), a son of Abraham Scofield (1736-1812), a son of Nathaniel Scofield (1688-1769), a son of John Scofield (1648-1699), all born in Stamford. John's father was Daniel Scofield (b. 1616 Rochdale, Lancashire, Eng. - d. 1669 Stamford, CT) who immigrated to the U.S. on the Mayflower, as per p. 947 of Vol. II of the Genealogical and family history of New York, serving also as a marshal in Stamford in 1658. Daniel was also a descendant of Sir Cuthbert Scofield (1528-1615), "knighted in 1588 by Queen Elizabeth I, for his services in the fight against the Spanish Armada, as per WikiTree. The author of the Scofield Reference Bible, Cyrus Ingerson Scofield (1843-1921), was a 5th generation descendant of Sir Cuthbert, and an extremely distant cousin to Emmet's grandmother Susan.
