He was saved in 1931 and received in the 86th and Bishop St., Assembly in Chicago. For a few years our brother was with the assembly in Sturgis, and for the last four years in the West Chicago Blvd. Hall in Detroit. His work carried him to various places where he always sought out the gatherings of the Lord's people, and thus our brother was widely known. Funeral services in Detroit and burial services in Chicago were conducted by brethren Ferguson, Schwartz, Gould and Cotton. He is survived by his widow."

- Martha was previously married in 1858 to Elijah Gibbs (b. 1837 West Gwillimbury, ON) who opened a gunsmith shop in Bradford, Simcoe, ON in 1863. In 1866, an Elijah Gibbs in Toronto invented a "last block fastener", and may have died that same year.

He was saved in Scotland 51 years ago and in fellowship in Motherwell and Dumformline, previous to coming to Windsor, Ont., where he was identified with the Partington assembly. During the past nine years he was associated with saints in the West Chicago Blvd. Hall, and as caretaker in more recent years. Of a humble, gracious spirit, with a happy smile and cheery word our brother will be missed both in the home and assembly and the various conferences where he would meet the Lord's people. He was deeply exercised for unsaved loved ones. His true help-meet and ten grown sons and daughters survive. Funeral services were conducted by John Govan."

From the "Thumb" of Michigan at Glencoe, he has been identified with the Stark Road Assembly, formerly West Chicago, for many years, an elder of repute and with his wife who predeceased him, most hospitable and kind in the work of the Lord. Shall be much missed. We have known our brother for 55 years. Survived by three sons, one daughter, Mrs. Alex. Joyce, and one sister. He was saved when 17. In Central Hall first, a good man, consistent in attendance and served his brethren faithfully. Much missed in home and Assembly."
- Agnes Irene McDonald Kitchen +1973 (1897-1973); WIS 1973-9: Fallen Asleep: Detroit, Mich.: "Our beloved sister Mrs. Charles Kitchen "went home" to be with the Lord from the hospital Saturday July 28th. Saved many years ago in the Glencoe district of the Thumb of Michigan and for years in Detroit. With her husband she showed much hospitality to the Lord's servants and others and loved the old paths of the Word to the end. In fellowship in Stark Road Assembly (formerly West Chicago) she will be much missed and we commend her husband to the prayers of the saints, also her daughter in the assembly at Stark Road. Three sons and their families who have heard the Word for years we especially commend to the prayers of His own. We have known this family for over 50 years, her parents of the "old school." Our sister was aged 75."

Dear Jim "retired" from an executive position in the large General Motors Corp., last year and looked forward to spending much time in visitation of lonely and needy, but the Lord has seen fit to take him home. His widow survives, also two daughters. In fellowship in West Chicago Assembly (Stark Road Assembly), and latterly in Sarnia Assembly. Titus 2:13.
McKean family
- John T. McKean 1951-1967 (1889-1967); T&T 1967-6: "Our aged brother, John T. McKean, was called home on March 24th, in his 88th yeaer. Born in Leadhills, Scotland, and saved when a lad in his teens, he came to the U.S.A. in 1901. He was in fellowship in Upper Peninsula and Detroit Assemblies and for the last 16 years at West Chicago Blvd. and Stark Road, being faithful in attendance at meeting. He loved to hear the gospel preached and witnessed for the Saviour to all with whom he came in contact. Samuel Barr spoke a faithful word to a good company at the funeral service."

- Andrew McMaster 1938-1978; (1909-1985) WIS 1985-2: "Andrew McMaster on Dec. 25, age 76. Our dear brother was born in N. Ireland and came to Hamilton, Ontario as a child. About the time of his marriage, he moved to Detroit, and was saved during fruitful meetings in West Chicago Blvd. in 1938. He was a faithful man, teaching Sunday School for 25 years and seeing some fellow workers saved. During the past seven years, he was in San Diego, then in Florida, and then six months at the home in Marion, Iowa. E. Doherty had the funeral service in Florida."
Mooney family
- T&T 1950-9: Detroit, MI: "The tragic and sudden deaths of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Mooney was caused by an automobile accident a few miles north of Saginaw, Michigan. A speeding car which failed to observe a stop sign at an intersection, struck their car on Sunday afternoon, July 2nd. Mrs. Mooney was killed instantly, and Mr. Mooney was taken to a hospital in Saginaw and died six days later, July 8th. Their youngest daughter, Catherine, aged 13, was also in the car but escaped miraculously with minor injuries. Mrs. Mooney was saved in Sarnia, Ont., and was in fellowship in West Chicago Blvd., Detroit. Mr. Mooney was saved on March 17, 1932, and was in fellowship since in the same assembly. They bore a quiet and consistent testimony for Christ and will be missed. This has caused deep sorrow in the assembly. Bro. F.W. Schwartz spoke at the funeral of Mrs. Mooney, and Bro. L.E. McBain at that of Mr. Mooney. Large companies were present at both services. Prayer is requested for the family and the unsaved relatives. Two sons and two daughters mourn the loss of their parents."

We believe he formerly was in the Lonaconing, Maryland mining district. His widow is in a weakened condition, should have our prayers."

- Elizabeth Sherrard 1920-1947 (1892-1977); WIS 1977-5: Hacienda Heights, CA: "Our dear sister Mrs. Robert Sherrard (Elizabeth), the Lord was pleased to take home Feb. 27th, aged 84. She was saved in 1930 in the old West Chicago Assembly, Detroit, and went on well to the end, of recent years hindered through infirmity. Our brother mentions, "He gave us to each other when we were in our sins, saved us by His grace, and gave us five daughters and one son, and saved them all". They were married 56 years. Titus 2:13."

- Marion "Daisy" Ferguson Spring 1928?-1982 (b. 1898 Scot. - d. 1982 Livonia, MI); WIS 1982-11: Livonia, MI: "Our dear sister, Mrs. Marion "Daisy" Spring, went to be with Christ on Aug. 17, at the age of 84. Her father, John Ferguson, and brother, William Ferguson (former editor of Words in Season) were well-known servants of Christ. She was born in Scotland and saved there at the age of 11 after which she was received in the assembly at Busby. She came with her family to the U.S.A. in the spring of 1914. In 1925, she was married to Herbert Spring in Flint, MI and since that time, has been associated with the old Central Gospel Hall in Detroit, later the West Chicago Gospel Hall which is now meeting at Stark Road. Her love for Christ was evident to the end and her cheerful spirit in spite of pain will be remembered by the saints. A daughter, Elaine, and a son, Marvin, who share in that blessed hope, along with three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren mourn her loss. Also, two sisters, Hannah and Margaret, the last of the family of two sons and five daughters of the John Ferguson family. Her husband went Home on June 5, 1982."

Saved in Linwood, Scotland in the S.S. when 13, baptized and received into the fellowship there. She came to U.S.A. and was in fellowship in the old Central Gospel Hall since 1923. When the Assembly in West Chicago Hall was planted she was identified, with her husband (the Correspondent) there until her homecall. A gracious, kindly sister, much missed. Pray for the family."

- T&T 1967-6: "Livonia, Mich.: Our dear sister, Mrs. Archie (Anna) Stewart, Detroit, was called home suddenly to be with Christ on April 13, 1967, in her 82nd year. She had been at Bible reading on the Tuesday evening two nights before. Saved in Detroit when around 18 years of age, she was received into Assembly fellowship in the old Central Gospel Hall, and for the last number of years was in happy fellowship in the West Chicago Assembly, Detroit, and Stark Road, Livonia (suburb of Detroit). She was kind, given to hospitality, loved by all who knew her and will be missed. A large company came for the funeral which was held in the Stark Road Gospel Hall, Livonia. R. Surgenor and W. Warke took the service, and T. Kember read, and P. Elliott prayed at the grave. Remember her husband and servant of the Lord in prayer."
- WIS 1967-6: Detroit: "Also on April 13th, our dear sister Mrs. A.T. Stewart was called home suddenly, aged 81. She was saved here when 18 years of age, baptized and received into the fellowship of the old Central Gospel Hall where she continued with her husband for many years, later they were in West Chicago Assembly, now known as Stark Road Gospel Hall. A worthy companion of our brother, she will be much missed, also by the many saints of Detroit who knew her for many years. As the circle of old acquaintance gets smaller, our hope should shine the brighter. Pray for our brother Arch. Stewart in this loss."

Our dear sister was born in Scotland and came to the USA with her late husband and family in 1924. She was saved while attending meetings in West Chicago Gospel Hall in the early thirties, and was in fellowship there and in the Stark Road location until her homecall. She loved the Lord and the assembly, and was rarely absent until the end. Her words of encouragement and kindness will be missed."

- Frederick William Thomson 1930-1963 (b. 1904 Hamilton, ON - 1975 San Luis Obispo, CA)
- LOI 1975-3: "Frederick W. Thomson, 70, of San Luis, Obispo, California on Dec. 18 after a five-week illness. Saved in Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of 17, he was in fellowship with Hamilton assemblies until moving to Detroit in 1925. He married Mary Muir Watson in 1926. Mr. Thomson was employed for 40 years as a machinist with Ford Motor Company. He and Mary were in the Ferndale assembly for five years, and then in the West Chicago Gospel Hall, Detroit, until retiring to California in 1963. At the time of his home-call he was in fellowship in the Atscadero Gospel Chapel. Marked by a deep desire for the Word of God, Fred Thomson read his Bible through yearly for 30 or 40 years. He was loyal to Jesus Christ, and firm in principles which honored Christ."

She was saved in the Upper Peninsula on Michigan when a girl in her teens and came to Detroit where she was in fellowship with the assembly at West Chicago Blvd. and Stark Road for the last 22 years of her life. She loved the Lord and His saints. Afflicted with a a bronchial condition, she attended what meetings she possibly could. Sam Barr spoke words of comfort and warning to a goodly company who came to the funeral."

- James Walker 1928?-1957 (1875-1958); TBM 1958-2 Obits: "James Walker, Detroit, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 14, aged 82. A large attendance at the funeral evidenced the esteem in which he was held. Born in Scotland, where he was saved as a young man, he went to Canada about 50 years ago (1905). After some years in fellowship at Toronto, with Mrs. Walker he moved some 30 years ago (1924) to Detroit, where they have since been in fellowship with Central and West Chicago Blvd. assemblies. Faithfully served the Lord and maintained a consistent testimony, he will be missed by his wife, two sons, three daughters and several grandchildren."
