Herbert A. Gerrand was born November 1892 in Ontario, Canada, into an Anglican family, Charles (b. Feb. 1849 Ireland) and Helen L. (b. April 1853 Ontario) Garrand. Herbert had a sister, Florence M. Garrand (b. Sept. 1894). He was raised in Middlesex, Ontario.
Herbert was converted to Christ in 1913 and studied at Toronto Bible College. He then worked in a mission to the indigenous people at north of Argentina. In 1927, in full communion with the Gospel Hall, Olivet Assembly, Toronto, went to Argentina as Brethren missionary.
He married Queenie Bedford who served with him. He died there on 23 November 1971 in Orán, province of Salta, Argentina. Queenie died in Argentina on May 26, 1972.
