Sunset Bible Chapel was founded between 1965 and 1967 in Salina by brethren in fellowship with Elm Springs Bible Hall near Tampa, and Grace and Truth Gospel Chapel.

They met in homes until the mid 1970's, then meeting at the Friendship Center (a community center) for a year, then purchased an old Jehovah Witness building around 1978, where they presently meet, on 760 Hancock. George Easter is among the founding elders.

Present elders include Greg Johnson, Paul Johnson and Chuck Thornburg, and they have Sunday morning and evening meetings. For many years, they had a children's outreach bible club that met on Friday nights. Sharon Luka is noteworthy as a longtime assembly pianist, while completely blind.
