The early Brethren for the most part wrote anonymously. Later they used initials. Some finally wrote under their own name. The Exclusive Brethren have been the last to assign their names to their publications. Some foreign authors still use only initials, notably the French. Identifications have been made in connection with specific titles, whenever possible, since some initials could apply to more than one author. A few pseudonyms are included. Some names identified here do not appear on the author list. Although reputed to have written, no work of theirs has been discovered.

This is the final chapter in Brethren Writers by Arnold D. Ehlert (including preceding introductory paragraphs), and is gradually being revised.
