Moses served in this position in 1841. He also served as the third commander of the first military company in Milo, known as the Milo Light Infantry Company, founded in April 1824. There was also an E.E. Sturtevant that served as the town clerk in 1880.

He was described in an early county history as "a man of good parts, but strong drink led him to neglect his business, and eventually slew him. The mill passed to the Curtiss Brothers who added a grist mill." A Sturtevant, along with a Mr. Mitchell, occupied the second store in town in the late 1830's. There was also a Thomas D. Sturtevant of Blanchard who, in 1841, was the third college graduate of the county, of Bowdoin College, and of Bangor Theological Seminary in 1844.
