William Ross Rainey
W. Ross Rainey was born June 5, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the son of George Rainey (b. 1898 Newcastle on Tyne, Northumberland, England - d. 1987 Mount Dora, Lake, FL) and Ruth Elizabeth Hawkins Rainey (b. 1898 N.Y. - d. 1966 Mount Dora, Lake, FL). He was converted at the age of eight, and graduated from the Stony Brook School, Stetson University, and Dallas Theological Seminary.
He was commended to the Lord's work in 1954, and was involved in evangelism, Bible teaching, conferences and pastoral ministry. He served as a visiting instructor at Kawartha Lakes Bible School in Peterborough, Ontario. In 1970, he moved from St. Louis, Missouri to Plymouth, Michigan, which is a suburb of Detroit, where he based his ministry operations until his homecalling, as an itinerant throughout North America, as well as a trip to India in the late 1980's. He served on the boards of the Detroit Missionary Council, Gospel Missions of India, and India Medical Mission Assistance, Inc.

Family
His father, George, was the son of a lithographer, William Carslake George Rainey (b. 1871 Chedzoy, Somersetshire, England - d. 1931 Auckland, Durham, Eng.) and Merrell Stephens Rainey (b. 1866 Leeds, Yorkshire, England - d. 1929 South Shields, Durham, Eng.)
His mother, Ruth, was the daughter of a builder, Harry Benjamin Hawkins (b. 1871 Center Moriches, Suffolk, N.Y. - d. 1941 Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Ellen Elizabeth Thorpe Hawkins (1868-1946 Brooklyn, N.Y.).
Food for the Flock
In 1955, he founded an open brethren assembly news and devotional monthly magazine, Food for the Flock, which 1969-1980 was known as Ministry in Focus, but reverted to its original name, and ran thru the late 1980's. Ross was promoted to Glory on May 28, 2021 in Plymouth, Michigan.
