Peter J. Pell LOI 1934-11
Peter J. Pell, Jr., Grand Rapids, Michigan:
"It was indeed very kind of you to remember me in the disbursement of the Pioneer Fund and I want to thank you in His precious Name. I hardly feel that I am worthy to be classed among the pioneer workers, being some sort of a circuit preacher, touching the same places week after week, taking up the study of the Word of God.
However. one or our chief joys this past summer has been to visit the towns and villages encircling Grand Rapids and proclaiming the glad tidings out on street corners. Coopersville, Byron, Moline, Ada, Sand Lake, Saranac, Alto, Sheridan are some of the places we visited while the tent has been operated this summer by my brother Will, Bro. Sheldrake and others.
Have just returned from Waynesboro and Philadelphia and rejoiced to see the Grace of God there and find the saints looking for that blessed hope with increased longing in their hearts. I feel that there is a need of real study of the Word of God. I believe that ‘‘burning the midnight oil” poring over the pages of the Word is not so common amongst us as it once was.
The Word of God is the living link between our souls and a glorified Christ. The Holy Spirit delights in showing us the beauties of Christ, He wants to ravish our hearts with the sight of our Beloved and thus wean us from this poor faithless world. Thus I believe a real need is met in these weekly Bible classes in various assemblies and gospel effort is increased as well.
