** Joseph Medlicott Scriven, the noted hymnwriter, settled in Woodstock in '''1845''' from County Down, Ireland, joining PB friends, where he taught a few years before relocating to Brantford where he conducted a private school in the early 1850's, then from 1855-1857 in Huron County near Clinton, then in 1857 he moved to Bewdley where he tutored a retired naval officer named Robert Lamport Pengelly, and became engaged to Pengelly's niece, Eliza Catherine Roach, who died in Aug. 1860. In the late 1860's or early 1870's, he relocated to a cottage in Port Hope where he died in 1886. See [http://www.biographi.ca/en/bio/scriven_joseph_medlicott_11E.html biographi.ca] for a fine article.
