Dr. Abraham Hunt served as Supt. of Education of NS. Catherine's father was a notable area judge, and her uncle James William Johnston served as Prime Minister of NS. *** Johnston Hunt was the first Judge of the juvenile court in Halifax, and his obit states that he was "universally respected and admired". **** Archdeacon Armitage tributes: "Judge Hunt was one of the foremost workers at St. Paul's. He was a polished speaker and adorned every platform upon which he appeared. He was a strong supporter of the Bible Society and Mission organizations and his special gift was the exposition of scripture, and in the delivery of simple gospel messages. He was a member of the diocese and the synod and was there much respected... He was a member of the Corresponding Committee of the Colonial and Continental Church Society in which he took a particular interest. There was no good work in Halifax in which he was not interested."

George was "the senior partner in the dry goods firm Anderson, Billings and Co. that was begun by his father, the late Hon. John Hawkins Anderson, who was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia (MLA) and was appointed by Royal Proclamation to the first Canadian Senate as a Liberal Senator at Confederation. The Anderson house, now a historic site, was built to showcase of his new prominence in his father's firm and in Halifax society. George Ritchie Anderson attained the rank of colonel in the local militia and was an aide-de-camp to the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. His other achievements included: director of the Union Band, director of the Halifax Gas Company, and member of the managing committee of the Deaf and Dumb Asylum."*** Daughter: Susan Helen Anderson Connell (1877-1919 Halifax, NS). Husband: Charles Herbert Newton Connell (b. 1876 NB - d. 1951 Vancouver, BC). **** If this is the correct C.H.N. Connell, he was a retired district engineer with the Canadian railroad, and also the grandson of the first postmaster general in Canada, Charles Connell (1810-1873) who was the first to place royalty other than reigning monarch on a postage stamp, and resigned his position after placing his own picture on a stamp in defiance of politics of the day including converting to a decimal system. Connell later served as Surveyor General of NS.
