In 1881, Franklin was farming in Whitby, and PB then too... likely at [[Whitby Meeting Room, ON|Whitby Meeting Room]]. In 1891, he was employed in Belleville as an export manager. His widowed brother George Fulton Gardiner (b. 1853 Oshawa, ON - d. 1926 East Rochester, Monroe, [[New York|NY]]) resided with them in that year, employed as a railway laborer, and registered as a Methodist.
