Martha Carolyn Andersen was born on May 6, 1907 in Dannebrog, [[Nebraska]], in the same county as Dan's birthplace, Howard County. She was a daughter of Maurits Christian Andersen (b. 1863 Rodding, [[Denmark]] - d. 1944 Dannebrog, NE) & Ananea Mortine Kirstine Christensen Andersen (b. 1869 Rodding, Denmark - d. 1942 Dannebrog, NE). Maurits' family emigrated to the U.S. in 1887, and Ananea's family in 1893, they were married in Rodding in 1893. Maurits was self-employed as early as 1900 as a shoemaker.
Dan and Martha were married in 1929 at at the [https://www.facebook.com/First-Baptist-Church-of-Dannebrog-NE-316704249007/ Dannebrog Baptist Church] in Howard Co., NE and lived with Dan's parents at Loup Fork until leaving for the Belgian Congo in 1930, their passport issued June 20 of that year. The family returned to the U.S. (via Antwerp, Belgium and NYC) in Oct. 1934 for a furlough. In 1938, their nurse in the DRC was Miss Maude Hogeland of the Unevangelized Tribes Mission (UTM) in Panzi, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kikwit Kikwit], Kwilu, DRC, where they were serving with the Rogers and Whitaker families from 1930-1940 until joining the open brethren, then in 1948 joining with the TW's.
In 1940, they were furloughing at Dan's sister's in Canby, Clackamas, [[Oregon]], and they relocated to Brazil, then Africa. Prior to 1948, they served with the Open Brethren until 1948 when they joined the TW's. By 1951In 1950, they were living resided in LawrenceTopeka, breaking bread at the [[Kansas]], in fellowship with Philip O. Bell, a TW brother had lived there since 1944, and were in fellowship with the [[Des Moines City Meeting Room, IAMO|Des Moines Kansas City Meeting Room]] by 1953. In March of 1959, Dan ministered in Trinidad. In April of 1962, he ministered in BarbadosKCMO.
Joyce Estella Leonard Hjelm (b. 1930 White City, Morris, KS - d. 2013 Englewood, Arapahoe, [[Colorado|CO]]) and her elder sister Lois Nadine Leonard Neal (b. 1925 White City, KS) resided with the Andersen family in Topeka in 1950. Joyce was employed as a secretary at National Bank, and Lois as a bookbinder. Joyce & Lois were daughters of George Gilbert Leonard (b. 1895 Alexis, Warren, [[Illinois|IL]] - d. 1985 Junction City, Geary, KS) & Estella Alberta Becker Leonard (b. 1898 White City, KS - d. 1966 Salina, Saline, KS), and raised Lutheran. Estella's paternal grandfather Paul Henry Becker, Sr. (b. 1813 Wintersheim/Beikenheison, Mainz-Bingen, Germany - d. 1901 White City, KS) was regarded as a pioneer resident of White City, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1871, his wife and children followed later in 1873 on the [https://weberbreuer.fandom.com/wiki/SS_Vaderland S.S. Vaderland]] via Philadelphia. Paul initially settled in Peoria, Illinois, and at Clarks Creek, near White City in Morris Co., Kansas by 1880. Paul's wife was Catharine Becker (b. 1817 Wintersheim/Beikenheison, Germany - d. 1881 White City, KS). By 1951, the Andersen family had relocated to Lawrence, KS still with the KCMO meeting. By 1953, Dan & Martha were in fellowship with the [[Des Moines Meeting Room, IA|Des Moines Meeting Room]]. In March of 1959, Dan ministered in Trinidad. In April of 1962, he ministered in Barbados. At some juncture, Dan & Martha relocated to Tampa, [[Florida]], then in 1990 to Altona, [[Manitoba]] where they lived the duration of their livesnear one of their daughters. Dan was promoted to Glory on Dec. 29, 1990, Martha followed on May 22, 19951994.
