William Ferguson LOI 1934-11
William Ferguson, Detroit, Michigan:
"Just a note to acknowledge the expression of fellowship in the gospel from “Letters of Interest.” I would return hearty thanks in His Name to those who have been exercised in regard to this desire to further the spread of the gospel in needy parts. This is fruit which will be to their account against the day of reward. Our God is ever faithful and He wants faithful laborers in the great harvest field. May we all be found such “till He come.”
The work with the Michigan Bible carriage has been very interesting and encouraging in quite a number of places during the past few months. Some souls have been saved, we believe, and others helped on in His ways in obedience to His Word. Sixteen years ago when starting out it was a rare thing to meet a Christian in the Northern parts and to be invited to a friendly board and hospitable home in the country districts was also very rare, but now in many parts there is an open door for the Word and the Bible carriage is eagerly looked for by quite a number in the different districts as far North as the Lake Superior mining region.
Of late some other of our brethren have been interested in northern parts around Cadillac and Bellaire, where a few Christian farmers have settled and opened their homes for the Word, but the majority of the ground is virgin so far as we are concerned, i.e. as assemblies, and in the words of dear James Gilmour of Mongolia years ago— “that which will bring results is not new, lightning methods, but quiet, persistent plodding in old-fashioned ways in dependence on Himself alone.”
Where there is this, God honors it in His own time and way. A very encouraging feature of the work is the meeting of different ones here and there who tell us that they have been reached and saved through the Word sown in former years.
With love in the Lord and hearty good wishes for the welfare of your little paper in stirring up the interest of many of His own. I would just add that in sixteen years in His service, while there have been times of testing, this is my testimony: “God has not failed once.”
