Witt Meeting Room, IL

The Witt assembly is believed to have been started between 1912 and 1914 by the Nokomis assembly believers, who also may have maintained a preaching point in Nokomis thru 1951. It was part of the Tunbridge Wells branch of 1909 originating from the Darbyites.

Frederic Guillaume Calame, was led to Christ by John Nelson Darby in the 1840's before his sons Jule and Edward emigrated to the St. Louis area in 1848 where they were met by Brethren from that area, who started the assembly in nearby Nokomis likely around 1866 when Jules arrived. The last correspondent of the Witt assembly was Mrs. Wilbur Calame, who died in 2003.
