Oliver Trauger Landes of Peter Becker Community, Harleysville, formerly a longtime resident of Plumsteadville, died June 26, 2009 at the age of 89.   He was born in Pipersville in 1919 to Oliver Moyer Landes and Annie Trauger Landes, as one of thirteen children, siblings can be found at Oliver M's bio. 

His parents were Mennonite and upon salvation, they started attending Pipersville Chapel, then attending Grace Gospel Chapel, Plumsteadville, PA.   Oliver M. and his wife Sarah were also longtime members at Grace, where he sang in the men's chorus. Funeral service was held at the Chapel.

Oliver was employed by the former Fretz's Pants Factory for many years, and for fourteen years he worked in the maintenance department for Unami and Lenape Middle Schools in the Central Bucks School District.

Oliver and his wife Sarah Segletes were married 66 years. She was born in 1923 in Tinicum as one of 11 children to Rudolph Henry Segletes (1894-1949) and Lula Darling Covington Segletes (1894-1960). Rudolph's parents (Rudolph & Constance) were raised in Germany. Lula's parents (Philip & Susan Covington) were from Hooper's Island, MD.

Sarah was employed in food services at Delaware Valley College. She also provided private catering for weddings and parties. She was a member of Plumsteadville and Doylestown Garden Clubs, and won many awards for cake decorating and floral arranging. Sarah died June 24, 2018, and her joyful spirit and good humor is missed.

Oliver and Sarah had two daughters:

  • Nancy High Landes who married George Ballein, and they lived in Muncy, PA
  • Debara Landes who married Kenneth Valeri (d. 2016), and they lived in Worcester, PA

They also have four grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and at least two great-great grandchildren.
