History
Groupe biblique du Richelieu is a French open brethren assembly founded in 1980 that is located in Beloeil, La Vallée-du-Richelieu, Montérégie, Greater Montréal, Southcentral Québec, Canada.
The roots of this assembly go back to early 1972 and the arrival in Beloeil of Fernand Saint-Louis, his wife Yolande and their young family. Visits in the area resulted in meetings for the study of God’s Word. Three years later, Leslie Muirhead, living in Montreal, was doing a similar outreach on the south shore in nearby Mont-Saint-Hilaire. By 1979 the two groups had coalesced under the leadership of Fernand. Leslie Russell and his wife Helen joined the group early on. Participants came from four municipalities bordering the Richelieu River - Beloeil, McMasterville, St-Hilaire and Otterburn Park. Thus the name Groupe biblique du Richelieu. The Lord’s Supper was first celebrated in January 1980. Two years later the assembly affiliated with the CBCQ. The work continued until 2017.
