History
Groupe biblique de Sainte-Julie was a French open brethren assembly founded around 1982 that was located in Sainte-Julie, Marguerite-D'Youville, Montérégie, Greater Montréal, Southcentral Québec, Canada. It was active until 1996.
The Groupe biblique de Sainte-Julie began in 1982, being one of three outgrowths of the Groupe biblique de la Rive-sud in Longueuil. Having no building of its own, it changed meeting places several times over the years. The group apparently did not begin celebrating the Lord’s Supper on a regular basis until the early nineties. In 1992, Andy Holdsworth and his wife Danielle, both from Europe, arrived with their two pre-teenagers and two years later were commended by this assembly to labour full-time among them. Difficulties within the assembly in 1995 resulted in the departure of several persons which, for a small work, is often fatal. Such was the case for this assembly which terminated its existence on April 14, 1996. In the meantime, pastors from different evangelical churches of the area had been invited to preach at the assembly in order to acquaint its members with other groups with which they might align.
