  • Witness: 1897-3: Los Angeles, CA: Donald Munro: "You see I am once more in this land of perpetual sunshine. At this date, within three days of Christmas, after a few days of rain, the hills, valleys, and fields have put on their carpet of lovely green. One can truly say here with the poet, "Every prospect pleases, only man is vile", and I might add he is very vile. Our first visit to California was in 1887. There was then in this city the foundation and material of a prosperous Assembly. There was joy in worship and real heart in the Gospel, but Satan came in through "faith healing" and "perfectionism", and all but extinguished the testimony. The Lord sent our late and much lamented brother Andrew Fraser, and he labored in prayer for over three years. There are now about 50 in fellowship. Since we came, have had nightly meetings. Next week purpose going to San Diego to see two or three lonely ones, and may go as far as Portland, Oregon. Would like to visit all the little gatherings between there and here before returning to Canada again."
